24.01.2022 REMINDER - Daffodil Day 2020 - Friday 28th August This Friday, OLSS are coming together to raise money for cancer research. The Daffodil Day appeal gives hope to Australian families affected by raising much needed funds for cancer research. Thank you to all our beautiful families and students who have donated thus far - we really do have a wonderful and generous family community. LETS MAKE A DIFFERENCE! https://www.daffodilday.com.au/fundraisers/louisebeattie870
22.01.2022 A lot has changed this year, but one thing that certainly hasn't is the love we have for our Grandparents and special friends. We asked some students here at Our Lady Star of the Sea what they love and find special about their Grandparents. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zL5t-IRBYJE
21.01.2022 Happy Father’s Day - birth dads, step dads, adopting and foster dads, uncles, grandpas, friends who love our kids like their own and most importantly the mums out there doing the work of a dad. We see, love and appreciate you all! From the OLSS family to yours, have a special day!
19.01.2022 HAPPY NATIONAL DAFFODIL DAY We have already raised over $2600 - What an amazing achievement as a school community!! Let’s continue to make a difference for this wonderful cause - click the link below https://www.daffodilday.com.au/fundraisers/louisebeattie870
19.01.2022 With fewer opportunities to test their athletic ability this year, the students couldn't wait to take on the first ever Ninja Warrior course at OLSS. Testing their speed, agility, strength, balance, coordination and power - we certainly put the participants through their paces with some truly amazing times and efforts on the day! Congratulations to all who got involved. OLSS Ninja Warrior 2 - Coming Soon....... https://youtu.be/gCu10zkO1Vw
19.01.2022 Wishing you a Christmas filled with peace and joy.
18.01.2022 Mum and Dad hold it right there! Don’t even think about throwing out any recyclables in the house because if you’ve got recyclable materials, you’ve got an undercover musical instrument Just ask our friendly Year 2 students - or should we say the ‘OLSS All Stars’ band! The students have been learning all about ‘Sound’ during Science and were given the task to design and make their own musical instrument and they did not disappoint - Angus Young even rang to line up a new guitar ! Well done year 2 - rockstars out!
17.01.2022 Great leaders don’t set out to be a leader..they set out to make a difference. It’s never about the role, it’s always about the goal. For the past 8 years, Mrs. Rose Andre has nurtured and supported our school community here at OLSS with her vibrant energy, humility, and grace! She has always had the students at the heart of all of her decisions and it’s what happens behind the scenes that makes Rose who she is, and OLSS the school that it is today! It is with great sadness that we announce that Rose has been appointed the Principal position at St. Agnes Matraville and Our Lady of the Annunciation Pagewood - both schools will be amalgamating in 2024. We thank Rose for all that she has done here at Miranda and for the person she is! You will always have a home here at Miranda - it’s never goodbye, it’s see you soon
17.01.2022 COVID may have put a halt on a few things this year () but it certainly didn’t put a stop to our annual ‘Music: Count Us In’ Celebration Day . Although we couldn’t gather together as a school community and sing in unison, at 12:30pm, the OLSS students along with hundreds of thousands of other school children from all over Australia, joined and connected together via livestream, to perform the same song, on the same day, at the same time!
17.01.2022 WELCOME KINDY 2021 With things a little out of sorts this year - our kindergarten orientation days looked a little different to the norm! Here is a little insight into school life at OLSS - we can’t wait to see you next year and watch you grow and learn! https://youtu.be/-6VWl1zr8tc
14.01.2022 Happy Father’s Day - birth dads, step dads, adopting and foster dads, uncles, grandpas, friends who love our kids like their own and most importantly the mums out there doing the work of a dad. We see, love and appreciate you all! From the OLSS family to yours, have a special day! https://youtu.be/yfwyt2Q0-vE
13.01.2022 Mother’s Day Liturgy It wasn’t what we had originally planned but the special message of thanks and gratitude for our mums and women in our life was still delivered in the same special way Thank you to the Year 2 children for the beautiful liturgy - we hope you were smiling from wherever you were watching ... 10.01.2022 What a fantastic way to start your Christmas holidays knowing that you’re the winner of the MP Miranda Christmas Card Colouring Competition Congratulations to Oliver in Year 4 - you are a superstar! We were very fortunate that Ms Eleni Petinos was able to present the award to Oliver while his peers in Year 4 watched on. This excellent card design coming to a letterbox near you!
10.01.2022 In Science, Year 4 have been learning about forces and put many of Newton's Laws of motion into practice. They thoroughly enjoyed their Science Day yesterday, having the opportunity to design and make a magnetic maze as well as experiment with various contact and non-contact forces. They even designed and created a self propelled boat from recycled materials. Fantastic work Year 4!

09.01.2022 Feel Good Friday Here at OLSS we have begun a new tradition to reach out to our wider community, with an aim to brighten someone’s day and put a big smile on their face . Before Easter, as part of our Founder’s Day celebrations, each child wrote a letter to the elderly in our community sharing different insights into our school and what makes our school so very special . ... We received a ‘certificate of appreciation and thanks’ from Stella Maris Aged Care Facility Cronulla thanking the students of OLSS for making their Easter a happy time for all .
09.01.2022 Year 6 have been working hard this term on becoming experts on their choice of body system. They researched, created diagrams, designed models and then presented their outstanding information to their peers last week. Awesome work Year 6!

Thank you to everyone for embracing the day and supporting this very special cause. We are so proud to be part of such a wonderful school. https://www.daffodilday.com.au/fundraisers/louisebeattie870
06.01.2022 Today is Walk Safely to School Day This day aims to: encourage parents and carers to walk to school with primary school age children and reinforce safe pedestrian behaviour.... To promote the health benefits of walking and help create regular walking habits at an early age. To ensure that children up to 10 years old hold an adult's hand when crossing the road. To help children develop the vital road-crossing skills they will need as they become mature pedestrians. Leave the car at home or park a distance away from the school gates, put those walking shoes on and stride to it

03.01.2022 No no you’re not seeing things - Year 3 were granted a special leave pass by the Australian Government to leave OLSS for the day and travel abroad! Destination: Japan!! The children loved immersing themselves in the cultural experiences, painting, drawing and eating a delicious sushi lunch . They even discovered a hidden karate talent of Mr Burfield (we here at OLSS think he might be the undercover Master Shifu from Kung Fu Panda)! Thank you to our wonderful Year 3 teachers for organising a wonderful day!
03.01.2022 And so the adventure begins...Happy New Year to our OLSS community!
