25.01.2022 R/1 Purple and R/1 Yellow started Book Week off by making the curious creature "Forkie". A big thank you to Janet Allen for providing the students with all the materials to make their Forkie". The students enjoyed making, creating and problem solving during this activity.

21.01.2022 Congratulations to the students from Years 3,4,5 and 6 who participated in the Port SAPSASA Athletics Carnival today. A fabulous day had by all. Our school won Division 3 Track and Field, what a fantastic result. Well done to all!

20.01.2022 As you are aware, South Australia will be going into lockdown from midnight tonight. OLV Preschool and School will be shut for 6 days except for children of essential workers. The definition of essential workers is currently being clarified. Reception Year 6 students will have with them when they leave today a Continuity of Learning Plan (work for the next 6 days) Year 2 6 will also bring home their laptops.... My aim is to keep the children’s well-being as a priority. I will be communicating this with the R-6 students before they leave today. I will keep you informed as I become aware of information. 18.01.2022 Yesterday the Reception and Year One classes had an Incursion through Nature Play SA. Cameron talked to us about being Nature Warriors and the ways that we can be sustainable when out in nature. We went for a foraging walk, did some nature weaving and made necklaces, bracelets and headbands out of natural elements. It was great to connect to nature and have a different experience of art and craft.

13.01.2022 This morning we joined in on a live stream as we listened to the story - Give me some space!, read by astronaut Dr Shannon Walker from the International Space Station. This was part of the National Simultaneous Storytime which is held annually by ALIA.

12.01.2022 CATHOLIC EDUCATION WEEK This week we celebrate being a Catholic school in South Australia. This year we won’t be able to celebrate as usual but this morning, classes were involved in Class Prayer Services where children were able to explore the theme, Raising Hearts and Minds by sharing the picture book ‘Words and Your Heart’ written by Kate Jane Neal. ... Ask your children about the strong messages in the story!

10.01.2022 Well done to all of our students who participated in the Cross Country today. We had over 45 students representing the school and they all did our school community proud. Special mention to Ajok, Jordan, Maya and Braiden for receiving medals in their individual events, great job!

08.01.2022 Today at OLV we celebrated the Feast of The Visitation. Classes participated in liturgies and activities to learn about the Visitation of Mary to Elizabeth.

08.01.2022 Today the students were involved in a Street Smart Incursion, they learnt how to safely cross Wombat and Koala crossings and were reminded about rules while riding a bike or a skateboard. Thank you to Libby from the RAA.

07.01.2022 In STEM this week, the R/1 classes are learning how to make an iMovie. We took photos of a picture book, edited and added music. They loved this activity and watching the still photos transform into a moving motion.

07.01.2022 Year 6 students at OLV School were involved in an 8 hole Golf Game on the school oval last week. The students have spent 4 weeks learning how to play golf.

05.01.2022 ARTIST IN RESIDENCE - Our year 4,5 & 6 students have been working with Anna as per of our Artist in residence program. They have been focussing on Aboriginal Art Symbols.

04.01.2022 The R/1 classes have been talking and learning about the Indigenous Culture in HASS lessons. We have also been listening to Dreaming Stories as part of Reconciliation Week. On Tuesday afternoon the R/1’s went outdoors to the front courtyard to engage in some ‘dot painting’. Students decorated turtles and snakes. They did a fantastic job painting together in groups and being creative.

04.01.2022 It’s been a busy week in our Liturgical Calendar. Today, classes celebrated the Feast of Pentecost. The coming of the Holy Spirit is often referred to as the birthday of the Church as the disciples were filled with courage to spread God’s love, despite Jesus’ death 50 days earlier.

03.01.2022 OLV students have been involved in a School Sport SA Virtual Cross Country Race in their PE lesson this week. Students in Reception are completing a 500 metres course. Ranging up to 3000 metres for Year 6's. Students in schools all over South Australia and Western Australia are involved in this Virtual Race. Go OLV!!!!

03.01.2022 Watching the Christmas Pageant today...? Keep an eye out for Nipper, Nimble and Amira and Caleb from Our Lady of the Visitation School. These Year 1 students were both lucky enough to win separate competitions to ride the pageant horses - and they get to share in the experience together!

01.01.2022 Students have returned for Term 2 in good numbers and with a great sense of excitement and enthusiasm. We have had 75% of students return to school! Many thanks to parents for returning Learning packs, readers and Laptops. It is great having the majority of students back and actively learning. There was a sense of relief on the faces of several parents!... We are all in this together!
