20.01.2022 Last chance to register, we need three more skaters to commit in order to make this session viable in the future!

17.01.2022 A Club with a rich history: It started early that decade at the Olympic Ice Skating Centre in Melbourne's Oakleigh, a small two-division event limited to Olympic Figure Skating Club members. It expanded to a ten-division event open to all states by 1977, the year of first Senior Men's Division. In those days, the Olympic Trophy provided the only opportunity for Primary (Pre-Bronze) and Pre-Novice level skaters to gain experience in interstate competition, a showcase for up-an...d-coming talent, and not just skaters. It was also an excellent training ground for judges. New South Wales and Victoria sent their usual large contingents and Queensland sent 11 competitors, a big increase on the previous year. South Australia did not take part this season in "a year of surprises". Some skaters expected to win, did not, and some "unknowns" delivered good performances. Vicki Holland won the Senior Ladies, Mandy James the Novice Ladies, and Colleen Jamieson the Junior Ladies. Peter Cain won the Novice Men's and Michael Pasfield the Junior Men's. We're not sure of the Senior Men's; perhaps Brian Meek (1977 national champion) whose double axel-double loop combination on the final whistle of a 5-minute program won him two 5.7s for technical merit. There were many others, but all these winners except Mandy were from New South Wales. The state retained the perpetual trophy, 94 points to 84, and all competitors and reserves received a gold bar to signify participation in the event.
