23.01.2022 As stage 4 lock down trundles along, the only girls out to lunch are these ladies . Head count and visual check for any obvious health issues are all part of the daily fun and games on the farm. Then the ultimate game of musical bowls Happy Spring everyone!!!

18.01.2022 My lovely Friend and fellow alpaca lover is moving soon. This is her grand finale. Hope you all get to enjoy one last glass of wine with her. I know where she’s going so she can’t get rid of me that easily!!

12.01.2022 We have clearly had waaaaay too much time on our hands during Melbourne Lockdown... join us for some fun on our new farm venture. Small bee-ginnings and sweet endings...we hope. https://youtu.be/k7RKbn-8G80

12.01.2022 We are still closed to the public for the foreseeable future due to the COVID pandemic. Please do not ask if you can visit at this time.

10.01.2022 Covid Restrictions Easing - Update We are getting a number of calls asking if we are open again. The short answer to this question is, not yet At this point, the numbers are too restrictive to make the open days cover costs. After the 8th November, depending on changes made to restrictions, we will begin to open for private bookings only.

08.01.2022 We may not be open to the public yet but go and get a cuppa and spend a relaxing 5 minutes in the paddock with me. Happy Father’s Day to all the Dads out there. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UAZzOzxs3zc&feature=share

05.01.2022 Hi Everybody. This is for owners of alpacas who may follow my page. If you know anyone who has ‘pet’ or ‘guard’ alpacas please make sure they know this too. I am getting so many calls from very loving very stressed owners at the moment. These are good people who really care about their animals so this is not pointing fingers at them. They are the ones who care and ask for help!!! In Australia, this is the time of year that alpacas always need extra vitamin D and phosphorus t...o help with absorption. In fact this is getting towards the end of that period. Your alpacas should have had at least one dose if not two by now. If breeding females 3. In addition to the grey wet winter we are experiencing, remember how smokey it was for months before the rain and how unseasonably early the rain came? These poor animals which have evolved in high altitude conditions where sunlight has a lot less atmosphere to penetrate to get that essential vitaminD process happening, are really suffering. The pain they go through is intense. They are incredibly stoic animals so when they stop moving and sit a lot, things have probably progressed further than you think already. If you have purchased animals from me and are within reach of me, please call me or email me and I’ll arrange to come and give them some vitamin D if you do not feel able to do it yourself. In these pandemic times you can order it online and give orally if that’s the best you can do but if you are unable to manage that I will come and help. Remember that if you want to give it to them orally instead of with a needle they need double the amount. I recommend this if you have not injected an animal before and do not know how to. It also breaks down in sunlight so it needs to be given in the shade in food that they are going to consume fast or squirted directly into the mouth. The vitamin D amounts in pellets are virtually worthless. You can buy Hydeject AD&E AND Coforta (OR Cophos Or Foliohos these are the usual phosphorus options which they need too) For an adult alpaca (half for 6-15 months old and a quarter for cria orally only), I would either inject subcutaneously 1-1.5ml of AD&E or squirt 3ml into food you know they will eat. Same with the phosphorus option you can get but 2.5 if injecting or 5ml of the phosphorus in food. Please do this now if they have NOT had a dose this season. If in any doubt either ask a question here (others may benefit from your question) or PM me. See more

05.01.2022 Wow science and nature are so interesting! Did any of you follow that channel 9 story last night? It’s also been on ABC and a few other media channels. Alpacas are going to release us from Covid. Well that will be great. Hope it’s research progresses quickly. And now bees are going to cure breast cancer. Some of you may know that we have just installed an apiary on the farm. The inhabitants are due to arrive next month if not sooner. As Rob said, all we need now is for the c...hickens to provide something amazing and we’d have a hat trick. Oh yes... eggs are a complete food. We need to look after nature so it can continue to look after us. It’s symbiotic! 01.01.2022 It may seem like I am repeating myself but I decided I needed to add more details as I am still getting a call or two almost daily and they all seem to point to rickets. It really as been a bad year for this problem. I always suggest a vet is called to verify and to manage pain but this post has more detail on how I manage my alpacas. We each do things a little differently and we all have different levels of comfort for animal handling. I hope this covers several different ability levels. Good luck everyone and stay safe.
