22.01.2022 Mums, dads, kids, and beginner and experienced riders (and the Omeo community) are starting to count down the days! Yes, construction has started on the Omeo Sk...ills and Pump Track with an expected December completion date. The new track in Livingstone Park will provide a purpose-built track for cyclists, forming part of the user experience of the Omeo MTB Trails project. If you’re not up to speed with the pump track scene, you will be soon. What Omeo will be offering is quite unique, but an experience for all skill levels in the heart of town. By design, a pump track allows riders to move around the tracks using a circuit of rollers, banked turns and other features using momentum great for all ages. We’re even including a standalone beginner track! The specialised team from Common Ground Trails have started work on site in the past week and said the design was super fun to develop in the playful manner of the word ‘Omeo’, to be emphasised with coloured line markings. 11.01.2022 Our thoughts are with everyone in lockdown at the moment. We’ve been taking stock over the past couple of weeks. We love our region and we want to see it thriv...e. Gippsland is full of wonderful tourism businesses and some of the best natural wonders in Australia and it’s our job to make people aware of that. At the time of writing this, there is nothing stopping local travel and we want to encourage that - what better way to spend your weekends than exploring your own backyard. So we are going to start posting ours and your favourite Gippsland destinations again. We are not encouraging travel from restricted areas and we want everyone to travel safely, mindful that our small towns need to keep safe. And a message to our lovely friends and family in Melbourne, around Victoria, over the state borders and into every country around the world. This will pass, and when it does, know that Gippsland will welcome you back with open arms, with incredible natural experiences, with food and wine that you will rave about and with local personalities that will have you laughing till you hurt or feeling so warm and nurtured, you’ll never want to leave. The backroads of the Omeo region will form the decor for the first edition of this independent mountain bike race. Using their international cycling experience Velo Grammont came up with a breathtaking route in and around the town of Omeo, a route which suits all types of riders from xc-mtb adepts, gravel grinders to roadies. And since cyclists don't like to 'hike a bike' they made sure the entire route is rideable ... at least if you're fit enough.
