22.01.2022 Hugs can do great amounts of good, especially for children.

21.01.2022 Missing our students and our Omiros families - we hope that everyone is keeping safe and well

21.01.2022 Take a step beyond explaining the family tree, and talk with your child about how family history is important to understanding diversity. Having a better understanding of family can help children be confident in their identity. Photos are a great tool for parents to take an extra step to provide visuals in helping their children explore the family tree. Source swhd.org

14.01.2022 As already mentioned, we have transformed our operations during these unprecedented circumstances and have implemented new and innovative methods to ensure that all students can confidently continue learning Greek at home regardless of their needs. This was made possible due to our investment on new technologies. In addition to using Flexibuzz (now called FlexiSchools) for distributing learning resources, Omiros successfully adopted myEdOnline to deliver online self-paced les...sons and WebEx for live sessions. On myEdOnline students submit work and receive timely feedback on their performance from their online teacher. During the live sessions, the online teacher takes the students through the self-paced lessons on myEdOnline, explains the new concepts step by step, provides feedback, answers any questions they might have and delivers a range of other educational activities aimed at enriching their knowledge whilst keeping them connected and engaged. Give us a call if you need any assistance or have any questions- we are here for you :)

12.01.2022 From us to you - a huge THANK YOU! For being patient with us. For trusting us.... For working together with us to keep our children motivated and excited to continue learning through these challenging times.

11.01.2022 Dear Omiros family, I hope you are well and keeping safe. The past months of COVID19 have strengthened us as an Omiros family. Together we are transforming the College into the School of the Future. We worked hard to learn new technology skills and implement novel ways of delivering high-quality classes online. ... We are proud of our achievements. We are now in a stronger position to continue with online classes in these challenging times. Our teachers have taken the challenges that lie ahead with great courage and are well prepared to commence delivering quality online classes in Term 3, to enable all students to continue to thrive. I thank you all for trusting Omiros College and assisting us to build a school for the future that can cater for the needs of every student anywhere, anytime and at any pace! Kind Regards Tassos I Douvartzides

11.01.2022 A feel good story for Monday - Greek school lessons were held in the local church in Ballarat. In the early days, before we bought the church building, we would use Catholic churches to worship or travel to Geelong. The efforts to buy the church, renovate it and build the hall gave the community a focal point. The children growing up in the 70s through to after the turns of the millennium had a Greek school and grew up with Greek culture, a central part of their lives in B...allarat. "The Greeks who came earlier had little education but they worked so hard that most of them did very well and built their own businesses." https://neoskosmos.com//greeks-of-ballarat-a-peaceful-hav/

11.01.2022 Dear parents We hope you are all well and safe. Please find attached our information letter, in regard to where we are at and when we are likely to return to school.... Kind Regards Tassos Dear Parents and Students, I trust that you are well and keeping safe with your family. We have just reached the milestone of seven weeks since the introduction of our online learning platform myEdOnline, the live Greek language sessions through WebEx teleconferencing and the delivery of learning resources through Flexibuzz to each student, every week. Based on research, we tried to ensure that every student continued learning Greek safely through this current crisis with minimum disruptions. Our efforts are paying dividends as our students today reap the benefits of our online learning strategies. We take this opportunity to welcome the new students who have chosen Omiros College as their preferred school for continuing learning Greek. At this stage, Language Providers will have to wait a bit longer as certain measures and protocols need to be in place to ensure that students, teachers and parents remain safe during the transition back to school. The current advice by the Dept of Education is to continue the delivery of high- quality lessons online combined with the live sessions until the end of Term 2, apart from the VCE students who are commencing face-to-face classes this week. The Department of Education indicates that, subject to appropriate approvals, it would appear that Term 3 restart for Community Language Schools face-to-face would be the suitable timing. To further improve the learning experience for all our students, I seek your feedback on how we can fine tune the strategies we have in place. You are welcome to share with us your Greek educational experience during these challenging times. IF OUR LANGUAGE HAD A VOICE SHE WOULD THANK YOU ALL FOR YOUR GREAT EFFORTS. Kind Regards Tassos I. Douvartzides

11.01.2022 Culture makes people understand each other better. And if they understand each other better in their soul, it is easier to overcome the economic and political barriers.

05.01.2022 As Chairman of Community Languages Australia I have the privilege of connecting with many schools in Victoria and nationally. Through teleconferences we have heard of all the work being done nationally. In general, it is all positive news. School communities continue to adapt to the new challenges. We feel blessed to have received many positive comments from both the parents and the students, which is a testimony... of our collaborative efforts to deliver an engaging, flexible and high-quality program in the safest possible way to every child. This is an achievement that we can all take credit and be, proud to be part of the Omiros Community as students, parents, friends and teachers. See more
