25.01.2022 It's time to refill my own cup. I'm going to this one (long overdue!) in March. Would any yogi-ni-s out there like to join me? Then have the best ever vegan dinner at Yong Green Food? https://www.ashtangamelbourne.com.au//adjusting-yoga-align

22.01.2022 This is the highlight of my Saturday. Offering a yoga class at the RSL veteran communitys mental health expo was an extraordinary experience where people from different backgrounds came together and took a moment for self-care, wellbeing, relaxation and fun. My gratitude goes to Craig, Kathryn and all the others who made it happen.

21.01.2022 In our high-paced modern world, employees in many workplaces are required to perform more and better, but often with less resources. It is crucial that we take care of our most precious asset the workforce itself and offer them optional, personal energy renewal opportunities during business hours, not in their private time. A standing desk or a discounted gym membership is simply not enough. I recently ran a 6-week Mindfulness in the Workplace course at the local shire council here in Central Victoria, and Im proud to say that this organisation takes wellbeing of employees seriously and sets an example for others who are contemplating options for their people. I am inspired and honoured to witness this.

21.01.2022 An interesting event coming up in Castlemaine on the topic of Eco-Buddhism, on 9 March. https://castlemainezen.com.au/events/fight-fire-with-fire

20.01.2022 My friend and mentor, Michael Bartura, will be running a retreat at the Yarra Valley Living Centre (Victoria, Australia) in January. Michael is a very experienced, compassionate and visionary coach and trainer, and I warmly recommend this to anyone. https://www.facebook.com/events/459968511384473/?active_tab=about

18.01.2022 This fabulous free online course by Monash University starts on 4 May. Practical, universal, fun, interactive.

17.01.2022 A growing number of workplaces and organisations recognise the importance of supporting the wellbeing of their employees in the work environment. Being able to recharge our batteries and having dedicated spaces and moments to manage our personal energy is what brings the best out of us and significantly helps us feel happier at work. An immersion retreat by Health Futures Australia last week demonstrated exactly this, where I designed a yoga and mindfulness program as part of their retreat program. What a great testament of an inspirational team that takes peoples wellbeing seriously. An added bonus for me personally was that it was a child friendly gig and offered a perfect work-life balance.

17.01.2022 Last night was our first ever men-only yoga class at RSL! Although it was a mere coincidence that no women turned up to the class, it was great to see the commitment of male veterans to personal health and wellbeing and keeping their immune system strong. In the current state of the world, we also practised high levels of personal hygiene - no adjustments from the teacher (me) and we washed our mats with antibacterial agents. There was a great vibe in the group, mentally, physically, emotionally.

17.01.2022 How do you set the scene for your day? How about grounding yourself in nature for 5 minutes by listening to the sounds, watching the sunrise, feeling the wind and smelling the air. My gratitude goes to the Australian native land on this beautiful morning. https://youtu.be/SWKTyKZxHmA

17.01.2022 Here's a wonderful retreat in Central Victoria that you may want to check out. Offered by the gorgeous Jessica Liston at Inner Rhythm. 20 February 2021. http://www.innerrhythm.com.au/experi/women-healing-retreat/

17.01.2022 I would love to have you at these meditations offered by YogaHara. You can come just as you are and explore the world of mindfulness meditation in a safe and supportive group. Whatever the challenge is that you currently might be experiencing, know that you are not alone and will be supported in a gentle, accepting and loving space.

17.01.2022 Nicky has always been my "asana guru". From practising poses safely, to healing from injuries and ailments, to awakening our innate healing ability, to the 80/20% focus, to adjusting safely and respectfully, to reconnect with ourselves in the most beautiful way we might have forgotten. She will push your buttons for sure, but only to the extend you're ready for, to help you learn and grow. And she is a fountain of unlimited compassion. If you're looking for a teacher training with a Master Teacher, I warmly recommend this one https://fb.me/e/DMyNWx5k

16.01.2022 This morning, I reflected on the different ways that workplaces have been coping with and are adapting to the significant physical, digital, economic and social changes across the world in the Covid-19 era. Every workplace is different, there is no cookie cutter solution to the challenges, and many of the future solutions that we will see occurring have not even been thought of yet. But what is currently true for many workplaces is that mental health, resilience and mindfulne...ss programs have become a top priority: employees at all levels are offered and encouraged to take up opportunities for self-care, both during the workday and in private time. A key function of such mental health and mindfulness programs is that they can be very effective in managing stress in acute situations such as in our 2020 global crisis, but they are also an investment for preventative and long-term wellbeing, performance and awareness. A month ago, I had the privilege to facilitate a mindfulness program at Coliban Water, which is a bright example of an organisation that takes employee wellbeing seriously and sees great value in developing the so-called soft (i.e. strong) skills in the workplace. 14.01.2022 Adopting a microcosmic view during bush walks reveals some amazing...cosmic dances, really! Doesn't this ordinary grass look pretty extraordinary? Next time you're out there, just stick you head to ground level, be in the moment, and see what happens

11.01.2022 And so the renovations have started...! My new space for sound healing, meditation, yoga and nature walks is emerging like a lotus flower from the mud There will be lots of banging, dust and sweat in the coming weeks but the creative process is very exciting and the result will be worth every effort (and cent) I really look forward to welcoming people in this pristine nature place and to co-creating beautiful things together ... 11.01.2022 The RSL veterans are back on the mats this week! We had many newcomers and had a great time. Did you know that the RSL is much more than old retired veterans who served in the Forces decades ago? My youngest student is 32 years old (no, actually I even had a 7 year old once!) and everyone has a unique story to tell. RSL is a vibrant community of people of all ages who are actively involved in the community in many ways. (Image by RSL Bendigo)

11.01.2022 In support of the workforce across the world and in recognition of the increasing stress that many currently experience, I am offering this free mindfulness meditation which you can practice anytime during your workday. In this meditation, we bring our attention to the sounds of the rain and it is perfect for moments when you need a break from your work and would like to reconnect with the sounds of nature and with the outdoors. Duration: 4 minutes. Offered to you with love by Omni Mindfulness https://youtu.be/QLkOEmJQ1P0

09.01.2022 Our next (free) Global Monthly Meditation is coming up. Join us for this planetary experience where we meditate simultaneously, at the same hour, everywhere in the world. When: Sunday 26 April 2020 Duration: 1 hour Time: 7am GMT/UTC (see below)... Local times below are indicative please check your own time zone if it doesnt appear here: 8am London 9am Vienna/Paris/Berlin 10am Doha 12.30pm Colombo 2pm Bangkok 3pm Hong Kong 5pm Victoria/Australia 5pm Queensland/Australia 7pm Auckland How: The idea is simple. Just find a suitable place where you can meditate undisturbed for 60 minutes. Perhaps use a discreet alarm for timekeeping. Sit comfortably, with your eyes either closed or gently open with an unfocused gaze. Connect with your breath and the sensations in the body and observe them with a kind, curious and open mind, without getting caught up in them. Sit as still as possible for the entire time, stay open to the sensations that come up in the present moment. If you cant do the whole hour, just do whatever is feasible youll still benefit from it. You can meditate alone or get together with friends. A great way to finish off the meditation is to send metta to the world. If you are unsure about how to meditate, please seek advice from an experienced teacher. If youd like to request metta for someone specifically, please send your request to me and Ill forward it to the group. If youd like to share your experiences afterwards, please do post them here - wed love to hear from you. Love, Nina

08.01.2022 Good to see, once again, the benefits of yoga backed by scientific research. This article talks specifically about back pain and arthritis, but the benefits extend of course to our whole being.

03.01.2022 Wow, this is absolutely fantastic news! Both Monash University (where I studied) and The University of Melbourne (where I worked & studied) are opening simultaneously a Centre for Consciousness and Contemplative Studies. It's time to give these fields the attention and high profile they deserve. Thanks Jacqui for putting me onto this! https://www.monash.edu//generous-donation-helps-monash-ope https://about.unimelb.edu.au//university-welcomes-$10-mill

03.01.2022 Like Michelle Obama in her post wrote "We should all take a moment to EXHALE after everything we've been through". I'm absolutely thrilled, relieved & grateful about the US election results! Congrats to Biden and Kamala and every individual behind the scenes. Thinking of my family members & friends in the US and what a significant impact this has on our whole planet, including everyone in non-USA! Hope and optimism have returned, yay!!!

03.01.2022 Congratulations to all teacher training graduates at YogaHara for this stellar achievement! And a very special, heartfelt one to my mentee, Maggie, whose journey I was privileged to be part of. Sunday's ceremony was awesome, filled with love, excitement, a sense of accomplishment and a few tears too. Gratitude goes to Gina Macauley who is the amazing heart, mind and inspiration behind it all.

03.01.2022 Bendigo Health has been hosting weekly Spring Soul Sessions for their people to encourage to take time for self-care and reflection during the work day. Last Tuesday, my secular mindfulness session was about taking a moment to pause, breathe and reconnect with ourselves. Thank you Karen Lunney for inviting me to be part of this initiative. Its an excellent reminder of how important it is to give for ourselves and theres nothing selfish about it.

03.01.2022 As the autumn days get shorter and the temperatures drop closer to zero, an inspirational read and a warm cuppa really touch my heart. What an absolute winner, this article about the Digby The Horse and the Walers project in the latest issue of Australian Geographic, as we are heading towards the Anzac Day celebrations! You are a true inspiration, Jess at Inner Rhythm - Herd wisdom for the leader within. Crab a copy at your local newsagent if you get a chance!

02.01.2022 Have you tried mindfulness meditation yet? One of the best forms of self-care we can give ourselves. Starting on 14 July.
