20.01.2022 In Singapore / Malaysia, we call this Popiah. A version of spring roll that evolved from the origins in China. The flour skin is handmade and smoothed with a sweet flour sauce and Sambal, and filled with Yam Bean, beans, prawns and pork that has been braised in prawn and pork stock, then garnished with lettuce, bean sprouts. We will be having a popiah party at Banks Reserve on 27 Sep from 10am to 2pm. Weather permitting....will keep you posted.

Our incubation menu: Christina Tan Laksa Back Story: " My love for laksa grew in my grandmas kitchen in Singapore. The aroma of the spices that wafted throughout her home was a childhood memory that carried on with my mum as she cooked it in her Perth home. My quest to find this version of laksa in Perth has so far not been met so I continue to persuade my 84 year old mum to blend the spices for me to savour her version. Today Im inheriting her Nonya Laksa recipe and sharing it with you, a traditional Nonya laksa from Singapore. To those familiar with Katong laksa you may want to reminisce on this version of laksa but try my take on it - a dry laksa version with a thicker gravy that concentrates the flavours and will hopefully transport you back to the streets of Katong. 18.01.2022 Saturday Farmers Market on Manning, we'll have our favourite Mee Siam on the menu. Inspired by Thai flavours (we suspect Tom Yum), this dish evolved throughout Malaysia and Singapore, with each pocket of community having their own version of it. Some have thinner sauce with tamarind and fermented soy bean and spices, whilst Mee Siam Mamak has coconut in its gravy.
