13.01.2022 Vijayakumari and her family were one of the first families that we helped through the @omshanti.foundation Since then she has done extremely well, creating a highly functioning farm, selling rice, eggs, milk and vegetables She now earns more than the average salary and doesn’t require our ongoing support!! We still keep tabs on her - watching her influence those in her community to create their own creative endeavours #omshantifoundation
12.01.2022 MEET THE TEAM Shanti Sivaraj - Founder As a young boy growing up in Sri Lanka I saw firsthand the suffering that existed in front of me, including my family. I dreamt that one day I would build my life up, and to give back to my people, and so I did just that. Through hard work and patience, i migrated to Australia to create a better life for my family. When I came back to Sri Lanka, particularly the northern regions, I saw that nothing much had changed. The war left ...lasting damage and citizens of this community were left with little to nothing. I decided that the best way to help them was to provide a shift in mindset. To empower them to make money for themselves, and to help them realise that they were the key to creating a better life for themselves. With the help of some locals, I first provided a handful of families with chickens and cows - so they could establish a microbusiness selling eggs and milk. From there, we grew, and reached out to more families and slowly a ripple was created. As a result, families who worked with us began growing and becoming happier people. I am so excited to see how we make an impact going forward Shanti Sivaraj See more
11.01.2022 The @omshanti.foundation Kids for Kids Initiative was created as a way to bridge the gap between schools in Western Australia and the rural schools out in Sri Lanka that we support. Children in these areas grow up without the essentials such as shoes, a proper fitting uniform or stationary. Kids for Kids fosters relationships between the schools to raise funds as well as awareness to empower these students to grow into educated, happier adults. If you know a school that would be keen to join us, shoot us a message #omshantifoundation

05.01.2022 Meet the Team! Gareth - President ‘Whenever I visited Sri Lanka I saw those less fortunate kids and thought to myself, what makes me different to them? Was it by chance that my parents were able to bring me to Australia and provide my sister and I with very fortunate lives? Whatever it was, it didn’t change the circumstance. This was my life, and that was theirs. But, what it did do was help me to empathise with the daily struggles of the less fortunate. Giving back and... doing charity work is not something I choose to do, it is something I MUST do. It is my responsibility and my duty to help those in need as I was so lucky to have been given the life I have. Om Shanti has allowed me to do this on a greater scale, and make a positive impact on those children I once looked at and wished I could do something about - because now I can’ #omshantifoundation See more
