25.01.2022 2020 FOOTBALL SEASON UPDATE Hi everyone, Most of you would have heard already, but Football Victoria has announced this week that the 2020 season has been cancelled.... Obviously, this is a big blow to us all, but there is light at the end of the tunnel for football to be played this year Football Victoria will look to create modified competitions and other football options that clubs can participate in during the later months of 2020. Subject to government restrictions, It is FV’s aim to give participants a football experience this season, and are committed to shaping a revised competition this year, with possibilities including: - Cup-style tournaments - Pool-stage championships - Round-robin competitions These competitions will be created on an opt-in basis for clubs and players. The OMSC will do everything in its power to get players back on the park as soon as possible, and provide options for everyone who wants to, a chance to return to play football in 2020. These modified competition formats, while not what we all envisioned, will still be an important part of the club’s growth and allow all OMSC teams to re-build for the 2021 season and beyond. Finally, FV is working through issues regarding fees and refunds for costs incurred by clubs and players, we will keep everyone posted on this issue. In the meantime, take care of yourselves, keep well, and stay in touch with one another. Cheers, Jon-Paul Michail

08.01.2022 Hey guys, what a year it has been. Thank you all for your participation and effort this year. Despite the challenges, the club is very much looking forward to a massive 2021, kickstarted by the new OM Open, which we hope will be able to begin late-November. Regarding the OM Open, you are welcome to invite mates to play, the comp is a great way to recruit new players for 2021. It is our hope to increase the squad numbers from 5 to 7 in 2021 - this requires a lot more new playe...rs, and obviously retaining all of you. If you’d like a mate to play in the OM Open, send them the registration link. OM OpenSquads will be sorted once regos are in. At the moment, official pre-season training will recommence mid-January. However, we will be hosting a couple of sessions mid-late November (once we’re allowed to) to get some football in the legs pre-OM Open. We will keep you posted on these updates. We’re very excited about our club’s future. We want to invite members to start getting more involved, that’s what the OMSC has always been about, and we want to encourage much greater club participation and social engagement outside of playing with our members. If anyone would like to chat about how they can get more involved around the club, whether it be volunteering, team management, OM summer comp management, committee operations or sponsorship management, please let me know as we would love to throw the door open for greater participation in club matters, on and off the pitch. Cheers. Jon-Paul Michail OMSC President 0439 660 433
