16.01.2022 The #OrderofMalta 2021 winter #CoatsfortheHomeless distribution is underway! Our members and #volunteers will be distributing 6,000 specially designed, shower-proof, warm coats to rough sleepers across Australia. With decreased public donations amid the pandemic, there is a major under-supply of Rosies’ winter blankets this year, so the #Rosies team expressed particular appreciation for our Coats as the nights grow colder.... 13.01.2022 Kath (pictured with our #volunteers) is a resident of the Sutherland Shire Community and has been a lifelong and active member of the St Aloysius Parish Community. Kath recently started having joint problems making it harder for her to do simple tasks in the #garden, like weeding and removing plants. It quickly became overgrown, to the point she dreaded going out there. Young #OrderofMalta - Volunteers saw an opportunity to #help and got to work, returning the overgrown garde...n to its former glory. Kath is excited to sit in her garden again and play with her grandson. Thank you so much, the work that OMV has done in my garden has really made a difference. At my age I just don’t have the strength anymore to get down in the garden, so I am so grateful to have the team come and help me. I now can go into the garden and play with my grandson in the sun. Many thanks to Grace from #Sydney for sharing: "I really appreciate the focus the Order of Malta #Volunteers have for #caring for the #homeless and #sick. I have participated in the #Lourdes Day Mass in Sydney as well as packing days of care packs for the homeless community around Sydney. I am very keen to see what OMV opportunities arise for me in 2021.... I was inspired to join OMV as I wanted to contribute more actively in the #community through a faith-based group. OMV instantly stood out to me because of their strong #faith based connection. Volunteering with OMV has helped me gain a greater understanding and awareness of those that are struggling in our community and how best to care for them. It has allowed me to connect to my faith through actively living out the Gospel message. It helps me to seek out and love people that I would not normally encounter.
