24.01.2022 It doesn’t matter how many times I do this pose, or any pose, there’s always something different to discover and explore... that’s one of the things I love about practicing yoga - always learning, growing, changing... #trikonasana #trianglepose #inthemoment #studentforlife

22.01.2022 Strengthen your core (tummy & back) by slowly lowering and raising your legs in Urdhva Prasarita Padasana - and I don’t know about you but I sure have a few extra covid-kilos to work off... I know, I know - that’s not what yoga is about - but it is one of the side-effects or benefits! #coreworkout #legraises #yogabenefits
22.01.2022 ‘Live long and prosper’ another great 5-day Pranayama immersion course with Peter Scott Yoga this week! I can’t think of a better way to start the day and slowly emerge from our lockdown hibernation... #pranayama #digitalpranayama #melbourneyoga

19.01.2022 Sometimes it’s not until you stop or come to the end of something, that you can see just how anxious or stressed you are/ have been. My strategy in times of challenge or adversity has always been to keep busy and distract myself from the difficult or painful things... there’s been so much (and also not much!!) going on this year for all of us - psychologically and emotionally (and It shows in my round belly and face). Being out of lockdown and having our freedom again is SO... good but can also be scary; it’s now more than ever, that we need to be gentle with ourselves - the recovery process cannot be forced, it takes time and lots of love! p.s. finally got to the beach today for some ocean therapy... #selfcare #beachtime #yoga
19.01.2022 It doesn’t have to be the blue iris, it could be weeds in a vacant lot, or a few small stones; just pay attention, then patch... a few words together and don’t try to make them elaborate, this isn’t a contest but the doorway into thanks, and a silence in which another voice may speak. Praying - Mary Oliver #yoga #prayer #sunrise
18.01.2022 Happy Birthday to my fellow yogi, the gorgeous Kellie K aka BomBodz - if you’re in the Newcastle (NSW) area and looking for some yoga by the beach, do check her out and drop into her classes! #beachyoga #newcastle
18.01.2022 Have you ever seen anything in your life more wonderful... than the way the sun, every evening, relaxed and easy, floats toward the horizon and into the clouds or the hills, or the rumpled sea, and is gone-- and how it slides again out of the blackness, every morning, on the other side of the world, like a red flower... - Mary Oliver #endingsbeginnings #nature #poetry #sandringhamsunsets
18.01.2022 The time will come when, with elation you will greet yourself arriving at your own door, in your own mirror and each will smile at the other's welcome, ... and say, sit here. Eat. You will love again the stranger who was your self. Give wine. Give bread. Give back your heart to itself, to the stranger who has loved you all your life, whom you ignored for another, who knows you by heart. Take down the love letters from the bookshelf, the photographs, the desperate notes, peel your own image from the mirror. Sit. Feast on your life. - Love after Love by Derek Walcott : from Iyengar Yoga Australia’s Senior Teachers Series with Caroline Coggins on 8 Nov #poetry #yoga #selfdiscovery #heartopener #selflove
17.01.2022 For me, becoming isn’t about arriving somewhere or achieving a certain aim. I see it instead as forward motion, a means of evolving, a way to reach continuously toward a better self. The journey doesn’t end. - Michelle Obama, Becoming #mondayinspiration #yogajourney
16.01.2022 Let's get loose With Compassion, Let's drown in the delicious... Ambience of Love. - Hafiz, the great Sufi master & poet. #happyvalentinesday
15.01.2022 Sunday Savasana - It’s tempting to keep doing more, to rush from place to place, and often saying yes can be easier or more comfortable than saying no - maybe we don’t like to miss out or let people down; but slowing down and taking time out to rest gives us the space and silence to begin observing and feeling what’s really going on inside - instead of layering on more things and masking our inner needs! #yoga #savasana #space #clarity #awareness #mindfulness
15.01.2022 Parighasana - from the online class with Simon Morocco as part of the Senior Teachers Series run by Iyengar Yoga Australia - keeping the top hand behind the back so the chest and collarbone remains open... #gatepose #space #clarity
15.01.2022 Remember when going to yoga was about putting our screens away... Reflecting on the past 9 - 10 months and all of the online yoga classes, workshops, retreats and intensive courses we've all done! For me, the online classes helped to keep me physically and mentally grounded and (somewhat ) emotionally stable, at a time when the world and people around me where full of uncertainty and fear. It felt safe and supportive and I needed that! ... I'm so grateful to have been ablle to continue my practice and stay connected to my teachers (thank you ) and fellow yogis, but I sure am looking forward to getting back to real life classes and interacting with you all in the real world again soon. In the meantime: please don't forget to put yourself on mute!! #onlineyoga #zoomyoga #reflections #goodbye2020

09.01.2022 We often see yoga practice as a special treat; a sometimes food; something we have on the side; a sweet dessert... but what if we allowed it to become the main course; an everyday necessity?! You have to keep breaking your heart until it opens - Rumi #selfdiscovery #innerjourney
08.01.2022 What a great way to come out of lockdown and head into the weekend - last night’s Twilight Yoga session with Catherine from Yoga Arts Academy was spectacular, and the sunset wasn’t bad either... #beachsideyoga #sandringham
08.01.2022 To practice solitude is to practice being in this singular moment, not caught in the past, not carried away by the future, and most of all not carried away by the crowd. ~ Thich Nhat Hanh #lastnightssunset #treepose #solitude #space #clarity
05.01.2022 BIG NEWS to end the year! After 6 years living and teaching yoga around Richmond (Melbourne) I have decided to move to a little bungalow near the beach As BKS Iyengar said; change is not something we should fear or avoid, it’s what allows us to become who we are meant to be - that’s not to say that change is going to be easy; I will definitely miss the neighbourhood, locals and my Richmond Community Learning Centre - RCLC students, but I have to follow my heart - and... I’m also excited and looking forward to something new and different! I’m teaching one more class at Studio 1 next Monday 21 December - and who knows what the future holds; so let’s not say goodbye but see you later... In the meantime; watch out Sandringham - OMY has arrived!! #endofyear #ending #beginning
03.01.2022 Here we go... Happy New Year #beginnings #hope #possibility
01.01.2022 Sunday session - thanks Iyengar Yoga Australia for hosting the Senior Teachers series in November! This week: in conversation and online class with Sue Everett - Still Move Yoga #iyengaryoga #onlineyoga #weekendvibes
01.01.2022 Fears - we all have them, but often we simply avoid the things that terrify or make us feel nervous - right?! One of the things I love about practicing yoga is getting the opportunity to do things I’m not naturally good at, or that scare me - the chance to face my fears regularly and, sometimes, after lots of patience and practice, I can even overcome them! This short video is from this mornings online class with Caroline Coggins who is on retreat in Lennox Heads this week... (lucky her)... and while I’ve done many freestanding forearm balances and even scorpion pose in the past, I just could not find the inner courage and trust to get into the pose without the wall behind me for safety today! Being back in lockdown; now that I’m living on my own has probably unsettled me more than I’d like to admit, or maybe I just haven’t been practicing this pose enough and have lost my nerve a little - whatever the reason, experiencing and then watching this back has given me the opportunity to observe and contemplate my physical, mental and emotional state. At the same time I am reminding myself that no two poses or days are ever the same, and practicing yoga is not just about achieving perfection or conquering poses... Things change, often, and this is just where I am today. Tomorrow will bring a new day, a new chance to do the pose again - and as long as I keep trying and practicing, as long as I keep facing my fears, only then can I keep growing and learning... #yogalife #realyoga #practicenotperfection
