25.01.2022 Is your car charging the way the way it should? This little Audi A3 came in with a few small complaints, at first glance looking nothing seemed to be wrong so I carried out a full scan of the car which also happened to show up nothing. From here I had to go a little deeper and start individually watching measured values looking for something that may not seem right. Something that did stand out was the battery voltage was well below what it should be whilst the car is running..., the best way to check this is turn everything on in the car and check the charge rate at the battery and alternator, I found the Voltage to be dropping down to as little as 12.8v, we narrowed the problem down to the alternator. 25.01.2022 I had the pleasure of working on this amazing Mercedes 500SL last week, It came in for a service and just like most cars of this age, a few small issues Major service Missfiring when hot instrument cluster/OD not working Battery going flat... After a full diagnostic scan the fault was quickly tracked down to a short circuit at the electronic thermostat due to a leak through the electrical connector. With the water pump and thermostat replaced the wiring was repaired to replace the corroded pins to prevent any future repeat repairs.... 20.01.2022 This Subaru Forester XT showed up this week lacking power and making a loud screeching noise, a few quick checks pointed straight to a turbo problem, we quickly had it removed and pulled apart to see what had gone wrong. This turbo showed extreme signs of heat causing the bearings to fail making the turbo fins touch the outer parts of the housing. These turbos are water and oil cooled, so the obvious next step was to check the condition of both. Upon inspecting the oil we fou...nd the car to only have about 1lt out of the 5 that is ment to be in there. We sourced and fitted a new turbo and carried out a service and had this car running in no time. Unfortunately for this forester the turbo was the weekest link when it came to running low on oil. 13.01.2022 DSG gearboxes are something your standard mechanic will avoid all to often! Anyone that has driven a car with this type of gearbox cant deny the fact the drive great. To maintain this great driving experience make sure they are, Serviced On time. correct oil is used.... Filters are changed. With these items kept ontop of you have a much higher chance of avoiding issues. *sometimes problems arent avoidable though and parts fail. So when the Audi started having problems I was more than happy to help out. This Audi like most was definitely not straight forward, when it presented itself there was no faults being logged in the computer so there was no clues where to start, just like any diagnosis you just have to start with the basics, while doing this I came across the main harness plug for the mechatronics to be full of oil causing it to this the gearbox to sporadically drop communication and in turn log no faults. Lucky enough for this Audi I sourced genuine parts from overseas at a much more affordable price than what I could find here. *Once fitted this Mechatronics was coded, basic setting carried out then finally an apdaption drive to make sure the clutches are doing what there ment to.
