22.01.2022 Sport improvement Achieving their best performance possible is entirely in an athletes hands, or more specifically, their head. Sports hypnosis refers to the use of hypnotherapy with athletes in order to significantly enhance their sporting performance. ... However, hypnosis in sport has a wide range of therapeutic and performance-enhancing functions. The mental state of athletes during training and competition impacts their performance, and by improving their mental state and subconscious thoughts, their performance can dramatically improve. Hypnosis does for the mind what physical activity does for the body of an athlete. One of the fundamental keys behind sports hypnosis is that mental relaxation is vital to improved sporting performance. In that regard, athletes are able to improve their results once they are able to relax mentally to focus on the task at hand. Hypnosis allows athletes to attain that relaxation before and during practice and competition, and therefore opening the way for them to achieve their optimal results. In addition, hypnosis has the supplementary benefit of helping athletes to manage anxiety and stress. The impact of hypnosis on various aspects of sporting performance has been studied and research has shown the use of hypnosis in sport: Helps athletes to better handle anxiety Contributes to relaxation Facilitates stress management Increases concentration Eliminates sports phobia responses Provides the ability to eliminate distractions Assists in managing pain Increases performance motivation, and Improves bodily awareness

20.01.2022 Here are four ways to retrain your brain and the way you think: 1. Address your inner critic... This inner critic is only a negative thought pattern that needs to be changed. Imagine this voice as being separate from you. Take a step back and gain perspective on the harsh untruth it is telling you. Confront these negative thoughts and ask yourself whether they are true by looking for evidence to support them. Another technique to manage the inner critic, is to acknowledge the negative feeling, and then let it go by saying to yourself: I accept myself and care deeply for myself. 2. Practise mindfulness Self-awareness is key to adopting a positive way of thinking and changing negative thought patterns. By adopting mindfulness, you can recognise and identify unhelpful thought patterns that you have established over time, and then decide how to change these consciously. Mindfulness enables you to create distance between yourself and your thoughts, allowing you to separate the two. When a thought arises, acknowledge the thought and let it go while focusing on slow, deep breaths. Never try to suppress nor engage with negative thoughts. 3. Identify your triggers Certain people, events or circumstances may activate negative thoughts. Therefore, it is important to be conscious and identify these triggers. Examples of triggers that might cause you to be overly critical of yourself include being in the presence of an authoritative person, or being faced with important decisions. When you are aware of your triggers, you will feel more in control, and you will be less likely to fall back into negative thoughts. 4. Self-Hypnosis (avialable in the closed group)

13.01.2022 Hypnosis for anxiety, stress, fear and phobia Anxiety dis-empowers an individual, interferes with their everyday living and even effects their health. Anxiety can be experienced both cognitively and somatically within the body. ... Peoples reactions to anxiety often aggravate the symptoms they experience. Somatic symptoms are a racing heart, fast and shallow breathing, and other bodily reactions. Cognitive experiences of anxiety include things such as thoughts that something terrible might happen, or other extremely worrying thoughts. Anxiety might also interfere with relationships and self-worth. Through hypnosis, I can utilize techniques to address unhelpful thoughts associated with anxiety and panic. Symptoms are addressed but more importantly, under hypnosis, the root causes of anxiety are addressed. Once this has been dealt with, a person feels empowered. Subsequently, mindfulness techniques enable the individual to permanently alter their way of thinking. Research has shown that hypnosis is highly beneficial in treating anxiety as well as behaviours arising from it - such as a fear of public speaking, flying, and a wide range of other phobias. I support people in altering the way they view the fear, as well as giving them the ability to calm their reactions to that fear.

13.01.2022 Whether you are dealing with anxiety, weight issues, breaking a habit, or even want to substantially improve your sports performance, hypnotherapy can help you. To me, the most important thing about hypnotherapy is empowering my clients. For someone who does not feel in control of a certain aspect of their life, it is the most disempowering experience.... It can lead to depression, anxiety and self-sabotaging behaviours, which can be destructive. Once a person gains control over the part of their life that has troubled them, the liberation they experience truly sets them free. The result of this liberation changes every aspect of their life. They feel more alive, vibrant and deeply empowered. It gives me the greatest joy to witness first-hand the growth and happiness people experience when they discover this amazing gift of empowerment. Hypnotherapy enables people to leave traumatic experiences behind them, freeing them from anxiety, depression, guilt and a range of other mental health issues. I am an experienced Psychotherapist who treats adults. adolescents and children. I offer psychotherapy and hypnosis face-to-face and via Telehealth, so anybody can access my service. No matter what challenges you are facing, I look forward to helping you become the very best person you can be. 10.01.2022 Stop and reverse negative thinking? Thoughts determine the outcome of our feelings. Therefore, it is important to reflect on your way of thinking. ... Do your thoughts result in an optimistic or pessimistic attitude? The way we think is habitual. Biological and environmental factors contribute to the way we think. However, you can choose and change your way of thinking. With awareness and practise, you can retrain your brain, and negative thoughts can be replaced with positive ones. Common ways of thinking Unhelpful ways of thinking result in anxiety and stress, affecting all areas of our lives. Dr David Burns outlined the most common unhelpful thinking patterns in his book, Feeling Good: The New Mood Therapy. These are discussed below. All-or-nothing thinking It is the tendency to think in extremes with no middle ground. Example: I am a success, or I am a complete failure. Overgeneralisation Incorrectly concluding that one unsavoury experience will lead to more negative experiences. Example: I expected to get the job. Now I will never get a job, and I will be unemployed forever. Magnification or Catastrophising Exaggerating negative points of an experience and overinflating ones own limitations and fears. In other words, turning things into a much bigger deal than they are. Example: I stuttered in front of everyone. My colleagues must think I am not intelligent. I will surely lose my job over this. What will happen to me? Should statements Using should statements to motivate a certain behaviour, leaving you feeling pressured and frustrated. Example: I should do extra training because I had a second helping of food. I should reply to all my emails every day. Emotional reasoning Imagining that how you feel is a truthful representation of your reality. Example: I am more stressed lately than ever before. I am not handling things properly, and it seems impossible to get on top of everything. Negative Rumination Continuously focusing on negative outcomes, leading to feelings of being stuck, anxious, and even depressed. Example: I am just not good enough. I will never get that job. Overthinking Trying to think of, and plan for every possible scenario. Essentially attempting to control that which is out of ones control to avoid pain in future. Example: I had too much to eat today. I will have to do exercise tomorrow, but I am worried what will happen if I do not get time.
