22.01.2022 How amazing is this resource? Not only are we teaching others about neurodiverse ways of listening, we are teaching children acceptance - your way of listening and doing is perfectly okay

08.01.2022 Struggling with your child's behaviour? Often a simple reframe can help make all the difference! Instead of My child won't do it, bringing up an image of a wilful, defiant child, try this: ... My child can't do it... yet. We're much more likely to view them with a compassionate lens, and focus on supporting their environment as well as teaching the child the concrete skills they need to be successful. More importantly, our child will walk away, experiencing more success AND more connection with you as their caregiver. They know you were able to well and truly see them during their time of struggle and shine the light for the way out. One word swap. Power struggle --> Connected parenting. Makes all the difference. (Image Description: Text reads: My child can't do it. The word won't is crossed out in red. On the top right a cartoon boy looks overwhelmed, with many thoughts swirling around) #EmotionalRegulation #Parenting #RaisingChildren #MelbourneParents #ChallengingBehaviour #SeeTheChild #BeyondBehaviours #CollaborativeProblemSolving #Reframe #CBTskills #ChildPsychology #Defiant #MonaDelahooke #RossGreene #CPSmodel #ResilientKids #ExplosiveChild

05.01.2022 After spending most of my time advocating for accommodations for autistic children, I'm stepping into ADHD advocacy more than before, after receiving a diagnosis myself. Disorder is not a familiar or comfortable word. Then again, the D in ADHD doesn't fully encapsulate my experience. ADHD feels so comfortable to me, and describes the best parts of me. ... Endlessly optimistic Intellectually effervescent Makes values-aligned decisions quickly Bouncy Thinks out of the box Yes, you'll find the remote in the fridge and I genuinely squirted brush cleaner on my face instead of stay spray, but I'll take it. And I know there are others out there on their journey too, and I wish you all the best. May you learn to fall in love with yourself in this process. What's the thing you love best about your ADHD'er? (Image Description: A white circle sits on a blue square. In the circle sits a colourful brain, and reads ADHD Advocacy) #ADHD #ADHDparents #ADHDmum #ADHDtribe #ADHDawareness #ADHDAcceptance #CelebrateStrengths #NeurodiverseWomen #NeurodiversityAffirming #Neurodivergent #InclusionAdvocate #Inclusion #ADHDstrengths #StrengthsBasedApproach #AlliedHealthPractitioners #Neurodiversesquad #Acceptance #TheBestBits #ADHDparents #ADHDlife #ADHDstrengths #EmbraceDifferent #ChildPsychology #AsianCulture #BIPOC #AsianCulture #CelebrateYourself #Mentalhealthadvocate

03.01.2022 Positive psychology is *huge* at the moment, and for good reason. Enhanced well-being, happier, more sunshine-y souls. What's not to love? Enter The Grow Journal. @thegrow.journal sent me this to have a look at, and I am in ~love~ with the latest addition to my tool kit. ... It's all about checking in with yourself and looking out for those eye sparkles in your day, as well as having room for making space for those more uncomfortable feelings with a weather chart. If you've got a doodler, a journal lover, a creative soul, a reflector or someone who in need of finding the sunshine in themselves, the Grow Journal is a great way of helping them creative positive thought patterns and feeling good about themselves. It's designed for children aged 5 to 12, with the most benefit being 8 and over. In the words of Miss. 8 who saw it on my desk and flicked through, "IT HAS STIIIIIIIIICKERS!!!" #GrowthMindset #PositivePsychology #Kindness #Empathy #Gratitude #RaisingResilientKids #Parenting #Childhood #Journaling #Mindfulness #HowYouDoin @ Melbourne, Victoria, Australia
