24.01.2022 Gillian is a seven-year-old girl who cannot sit in school. She continually gets up, gets distracted, flies with thoughts, and doesn't follow lessons. Her teach...ers worry about her, punish her, scold her, reward the few times that she is attentive, but nothing, she Gillian does not know how to sit and cannot be attentive. When she comes home, her mother punishes her too. So not only does she Gillian have bad grades and punishment at school, but she also suffers from them at home. One day, Gillian's mother is called to school. The lady, sad as someone waiting for bad news, takes her hand and goes to the interview room. The teachers speak of illness, of an obvious disorder. Maybe it's hyperactivity or maybe she needs a medication. During the interview an old teacher arrives who knows the little girl. He asks all the adults, mother and colleagues, to follow him into an adjoining room from where she can still be seen. As he leaves, he tells Gillian that they will be back soon and turns on an old radio with music. As the girl is alone in the room, she immediately gets up and begins to move up and down chasing the music in the air with her feet and her heart. The teacher smiles as the colleagues and the mother look at him between confused and compassionate, as is often done with the old. So he says: "See? Gillian is not sick, Gillian is a dancer!" He recommends that her mother take her to a dance class and that her colleagues make her dance from time to time. She attends her first lesson and when she gets home she tells her mother: "Everyone is like me, no one can sit there!" In 1981, after a career as a dancer, opening her own dance academy and receiving international recognition for her art, Gillian Lynne became the choreographer of the musical "Cats." Hopefully all different children find adults capable of welcoming them for who they are and not for what they lack." 21.01.2022 Do not ask your #children to strive for extraordinary lives. Such striving may seem admirable, but it is the way of foolishness. Help them instead to find the #...wonder and the #marvel of an #ordinary life. Show them the #joy of tasting tomatoes, apples and pears. Show them how to #cry when pets and people die. Show them the infinite pleasure in the #touch of a hand. And make the ordinary come alive for them. The extraordinary will take care of itself. 10.01.2022 With our Wild Animals theme in mind our Swans and Owls have started learning a little dance this week to show you at the end of term. Here is the music we will be using if they want to listen to it and practice in future. (They probably won’t remember it yet as we only just started) https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=9JDzlhW3XTM

09.01.2022 Only 2 weeks to go before our little dancers start back! What to expect from your childs first dance class - 1. Remember that every child is different, some jump in and are engaged straight away, others take time to process the new situation and your child who is not normally confident may all of a sudden appear shy.... 2.We allow parents to attend all of our students first sessions. Its important for both you and them to feel comfortable wth the class enviroment. 3.Our Cygnets class (18m-3.5yrs) may require parent involvment. We ask you to follow your childs cues, if they need help help them, if they appear to have forgotten about you and are involved in the class then take a step back and enjoy the view. 4.Swans (3.5-5yrs) In this class we ask parents to sit at the side for the first session and allow children to find the courage to participate themselves, cheering them on from the sidelines should be enough. If your child still does not feel confident we can discuss and assess your next steps at the end of the session. 5.Most importantly there will be MUSIC, DANCE, STORYTIME and FUN! We still have availibilty in both our Cygents and Swans class for a FREE TRIAL session

04.01.2022 Just a reminder classes start from 5th February. I’ve sent out information emails yesterday, please check your Junk mail as they often end up there. A reminder that you will now have to use the NSW Service Qr code when bringing your children to classes.

03.01.2022 REMINDER With the colder weather we are starting to see more coughs and colds happening. For the health of others in the community, if your child has a cough or snotty nose please thoroughly assess whether your child should be attending classes.... Please take into account that children have poorer social distancing and hygiene skills so are more likely to spread germs.

03.01.2022 UPDATE FOR FRIDAYS CLASSES Masks MUST be worn for any parents attending a session, due to the rule of masks needing to be worn in church buildings. I would ask that any parents bringing children for our Swans class DO NOT wait inside the church building this week. (If you really need to masks must be worn and social distancing strictly adhered to)
