24.01.2022 Commission after Commission. Report after report. Inquiry after inquiry. Enough is enough. What will it take for Scott Morrison (ScoMo) and his Government to stop navel gazing on Mental Health and start moving us forward.... The Productivity Commission has confirmed in their extensive report into Mental Health hat not only does mental ill-health impact 4.8 million Australians each year, it is directly impacting the productivity of Australian (at an economic cost of $200b p.a.). Our suicide & self harm rates alone are shocking - 65,000 people self harm (2:1, females : males) - 3318 ppl died by suicide (3:1, males : female) - the single most significant contributor to premature years lost accounting for 115,000 years annually (heart disease a distant second @ 78,000 years lost annually) Another talkfest is not going to deliver the systemic and urgent changes needed to achieve health equity for people living with mental ill-health. This fence sitting is wasteful. If nothing else, the pandemic has taught us that when faced with a health crisis decisive action informed by science and experts is more important than hyperbole. Chris Bowen MP Anthony Albanese the time to act is NOW. 1 in 5 Australians need you now more than ever https://www.smh.com.au//no-this-is-not-an-episode-of-yes-m
