24.01.2022 KATE BORNSTEIN IS A QUEER & PLEASANT DANGER by Sam Feder - USA, Canada Queer Screne Film Festival - Sydney, SUNDAY 27 SEPTEMBER 3.00PM When people say Kate Bornstein, I’d like them to think eccentric Aunty Kate.... ...and for the first time in my life I realised I want to stay. I don’t know why I want to stay alive. That one I still haven’t answered. Kate Bornstein has been a pioneer in deconstructing gender, a trailblazing artist and activist, and a self-titled gender outlaw for many years. Now, in a playful and wickedly fun documentary, named one of The Advocate’s best LGBT documentaries of 2014, we witness firsthand the whirlwind life of this polarizing figure. This incredible doco follows the fascinating work of the brilliant personality who paved the way for generations of gender non-conforming people, as well as giving us a thoughtful glimpse into her personal life. https://vimeo.com/84257153

17.01.2022 THE SUNNYBOY (2013) - caught this recently on TV! A wonderful documentary about Jeremy Oxley, the lead singer of Australian band The Sunnyboys. His wife Mary is just as heart-tingling-inspiring to watch and together they show the power of love, and one to one support to stabilise the lives of people with schizophrenia. http://thesunnyboy.com.au/

17.01.2022 Mr. Holmes (2015) a film about an ageing Sherlock Holmes (Ian McKellen) who is experiencing the deterioration of his brilliant mind as he pieces together and reflects on an important story from his past. Given an outstanding rating of 86% by Rotten Tomatoes. *While fitting the place holder in the film as a rare plant used for enhancing the mental faculties, Prickly Ash has historically been a remedy for stimulating the body when it is feeling sluggish, for toothache, colic and rheumatism (Wikipedia). 16.01.2022 So hard for me to watch this... so grateful for being a survivor.. I hate Clubs, Pubs and Politics that think it is ok to destroy lives. Thank you for telling the true story of how these machines are designed to prey on people trying to get through everyday life.

14.01.2022 Excellent segment on stigma around mental illness and news media - The Weekly (9:54 -14:55) "What also kills is the knee jerk language that stigmatises mental illness - the kind of language we saw after this weeks shooting". 01.01.2022 "I never wanted to be as open about it as I was. I have a British stiff-upper-lip mentality it wasn’t something I wanted to shout from the rooftops. But when it did come to light, I know I’m not the only person who suffers with it or has to deal with it on a day-to-day basis.
