11.01.2022 It is said that in the face of danger, natural instincts are more competition or avoidance and less compassion or collaboration. This behavioural approach would be based on the theory according to which the perception of ones own security and the instinct of conservation prevail. Even if ignorance was not lacking in some cases and effective public policies were delayed in some jurisdictions, however, the Pandemic experience has shown us in many cases that humanity can succes...sfully participate in local or global collaborative exercise. If we are seen from the point of view of our personality, each person is unique. From a cultural point of view, every person is different. But Corona virus reminded us that, from the point of view of what is important to us as humans, we are all the same. When humanity has been endangered, it seems like, more than ever, we have realized that we have the same interests (i.e. health, security) and we need to cooperate, regardless of religion, political views or the resources at hand. Mediation can play a positive role Some of the effects that such global crisis situations create are instability, uncertainty and panic; these, in turn, can become conflict generating factors. Mediation can play a positive role in both preventing and amicably resolving these conflicts. How? Since dispute resolution can also take place in the online environment (ODR or Online Dispute Resolution), now more than ever, mediation can be a viable solution.

09.01.2022 CALL FOR YOUTH WORKERS TO HELP WITH COVID-19 IN REMOTE COMMUNITIES In the coming weeks and months COVID-19 is likely to hit residents of remote Aboriginal comm...unities in Central Australia particularly hard. When this happens the remote community workforce is also going to be under a great amount of pressure. It will become hard to to keep a range of community programs staffed, especially as travel to community now requires 14 days self-isolation for some workers and all community members. Youth workers are already under the pump and performing other roles in community as well as doing what they can for children and families within the boundaries of the latest COVID 19 requirements. So CAYLUS is looking for expressions of interest from people with the right set of skills who are willing to be employed short-term to: * Travel to the Alice Springs to go into quarantine (potentially supervised and arranged by government) * live in a remote community for 3 months or more working as a part of the local youth program during the COVID-19 pandemic * if needed, work across a range of service areas (such as aged care, food security etc) in a remote community as COVID-19 impacts the workforce and community. This is very new, the rules keep changing so it will require highly adaptive people. We are just seeking expressions of interest as a starting point. We may share the information you provide with youth service providers in the region. If you end up traveling for us, CAYLUS would cover travel and quarantine costs and pay you for your time. Sign up on the form below. https://caylus.org.au/covidregister

04.01.2022 Living through traumatic events may result in expectations of danger, betrayal, or potential harm within new or old relationships. At One Pacific Dispute Resolution we understand trauma informed practices

04.01.2022 We know how important funerals and sorry camps are to our communities. COVID 19, the disease caused by the coronavirus, is turning funerals into a big risk for ...everyones health. When too many people get together for a funeral they are making it easier for COVID 19 to spread through our communities. They are putting everyone at the funeral and their loved ones at home at risk of getting the virus. Right now, Australian governments are only allowing 10 people to get together for a funeral. This also goes for sorry camps. Everyone at a funeral should keep three steps away from each other. They should not shake hands or touch each other. This is called social distancing. It is really hard to do, but it will help save lives. If you dont think you can do this please send a message that can be read out at the funeral service. If you are in a high risk group because you are old or have a chronic disease like diabetes or kidney disease please send a message that can be read out at the funeral service You can also pay your respects by visiting the cemetery later. Dont go to the funeral and the sorry camp and put yourself and others at risk. Everyone will understand why this is necessary in this time of crisis. Everyone will think very highly of people who help to keep the numbers at funerals as low as possible. Only very close family should attend the service for their loved one. Families should also think about postponing funerals until it is safer.
