25.01.2022 I'm just sayin'. Update: Now that this post is kind of viral, I would just like to say; If you don't like it, don't look. And mind your tits.

22.01.2022 I feel like we can come up with some better names for these.... anyone?

22.01.2022 One baby vs two+ children. But of course we wouldn't have it any other way

21.01.2022 As you know July was a super busy month for all of us here at the FBC and throughout King Edward Memorial Hospital. Rest assured that during these busy periods we still manage to provide amazing care and support for you and your baby. Check out our incredible results.

19.01.2022 We are doing parenting, like many generations before us did. Responding, carrying, babywearing, breastfeeding on cue, sleeping nearby - all normal and predate m...any other parenting 'methods'. . . Gentle Sleep Tribe . . 18.01.2022 May be useful to share for some of you or at least use as a guide to make your own if you're not ready to share baby for cuddles etc

16.01.2022 At each birth I attend I include birth photography in with my packages. This is a classic example of why I give back a full set of colour photos and a full set of black and white photos. Each is uniquely beautiful and I absolutely can't decide which one would mean more to you, or which would be of more interest. The colour shows all the rich reds and deep blues, a gorgeous white pulsed out cord, while the black and white shows off more detail, and just how raw birth can be. I enjoy doing both sets so much, you truly see an entirely different side of a birth in colour and in black and white.

16.01.2022 Shared from educated by nature. Sometimes we need a reminder of how we are a part of nature and connected to everything else.

15.01.2022 Reposted from @thrallur We don't have storks in Iceland. We do it the midwife style. Best bus art ever! #straeto #midwife - #regrann

15.01.2022 To the working moms in Hollywood: We see you. Keep leading like a mother, hustling like a mother, and showing everyone what a mother can do!

12.01.2022 Think close to term is near enough? A baby’s brain at 35 weeks only weighs two-thirds of what it will weigh at 40 weeks. New research has shown a trend towards ...PLANNED births occurring earlier than 40 weeks’ is associated with short, medium and long-term risks for the baby. 10.01.2022 Placenta Rituals Across Cultures ~ . The Baganda of Uganda believe that the placenta is actually a second child. Not only is it the child’s double, but the pla...centa also has its own spirit that resides in the umbilical cord. The portion of the cord attached to the baby must be carefully preserved to ensure the good health of the child. . Borneo Sea Gypsies ~ After the mother has given birth, a traditional midwife will carry the placenta and umbilical cord to the shore, and will perform a burial ritual on the island. The bajau believe that throwing the placenta to the sea will bring misfortune and bad luck. The sea is a sacred place for the Bajau and according to their belief if they will throw it at sea the fish will eat it and then they will eat it. This will brings bad luck. . Peru ~ Legend has it that Inca Yupanqui built a palace to house a gold statue of his mother Mama Rawa Occlo. Inside it he placed the placenta from his own birth. The Incas of Peru would dry out the umbilical cord and give it to the child to chew on later on while teething. Hawaii ~ Native Hawaiians treat the placenta as a sacred part of the baby. When it is buried in nature, a tree is planted over it so it grows with the child. . China ~ The Chinese are big believers in the restorative powers of eating the placenta. Ziheche dried human placenta, is used in traditional Chinese medicine and consumed by the mother right up until menopause. . New Zealand ~ ‘Whenua', the Maori word for placenta, is also the word for 'land'. Maori people insist that the placenta and umbilical cord are buried together in a special receptacle on the child's native land, creating a special relationship between the newborn baby and the earth. . Cambodia ~ Cambodian people believe that burying the placenta is key to ensuring the health of the baby and its mother in the future. It is wrapped in banana leaves and kept near the baby for three days before a burial ceremony. . 08.01.2022 OMG I love this photo so much!

07.01.2022 PhotoCred: Lightwork Portraits The holiday season is upon us, so let’s have a serious look at what happen...s during this time of the year. Did you know that the induction rate and c section rate sky rockets right before the holidays? Yes, we realize that care providers are humans, too, with families. But should you compromise your body, baby and birth to fit someone else’s holiday schedule? Let’s take a look at the chart to see the most common birth dates..... there are almost no births between December 23 and December 26th. However, there is a sharp increase in births the week leading up to Christmas, and then after December 27th, with the most births happening on December 30th. A holiday is NOT a reason for your provider to pressure you into an induction or cesarean. Inductions and cesareans should ONLY be done if absolutely necessary or chosen by mother. Please be aware that your provider needs a reason to induce you so you will get a lot of non-evidence based care during the holiday season. Like being told baby too big, past your due date, baby is still high up, your cervix isn’t progressing etc etc etc.(I can go on and on with this shit) It’s a healthier idea to wait for spontaneous labor when your body and baby are ready. 07.01.2022 Things we have all been saying since the start!

07.01.2022 Always always always check!

06.01.2022 Having a good support team is so important to work through all of these what ifs, ultimatums, fear and policies. Knowing facts, and rights make all the difference in your experience and the support to utilise them effectively.

04.01.2022 Absolutely DEVASTATING!!! https://m.facebook.com/story.php?story_fbid=728464607752468&id=295655517700048&sfnsn=mo

04.01.2022 TEN WAYS A PARTNER CAN HELP 1. Before the baby’s born, help stock the freezer with meals that can be eaten with one hand. 2. Find a good phone number for help... and call it as needed. (Contact Breastfeeding Support - La Leche League New Zealand for help and to find your local support in NZ) 3. Buy the grocery basics, and keep easy, healthy snacks on hand. 4.Get dinnerany dinner! Nights can be tough at first. 5.Be flexible about where and when everyone sleeps. Going to bed early helps! 6.Do more than your share. You may be what keeps the household running for a while. Everything won’t get done. 7.Talk about what’s most important to hera clean kitchen? a cleared desk?and do that first. 8.Get home on time. You’re like a breath of fresh air for mother and baby both. Helping out means helping emotionally, too. 9.Remind her how much you love her, how wonderful she looks, and what a great job she’s doing. There she is, holding your child. She really is beautiful, isn’t she? 10.Remind her that this part is temporary. Most women feel it takes at least six weeks to start to have a handle on this motherhood thing. Life will settle down. But it takes a while. from La Leche League International, The Womanly Art of Breastfeeding - get your copy at https://lllnzshop.org.nz/womanly-art-of-breastfeeding See more
