22.01.2022 There were so many wonderful literacy and numeracy opportunities available to us today. The children spotted and counted wildflowers and looked carefully at the plants to see how many colours they could fine. They compared and debated.

14.01.2022 IMPORTANT LETTER FROM OUR PRINCIPAL FOR ALL 2020 FAMILIES: Good morning, Hopefully you have all had the opportunity to spend some quality time with your children and keep them entertained to the best of your ability. ... Last night I was informed from the Department for Education that students are to return to school from the beginning of term 2. The following is from an email received this evening from the Department: We will continue to follow advice when making decisions that affect our schools, preschools and early childhood settings, from Health SA. The health and wellbeing of our staff and students is our top priority. Advice from SA Health and Australias expert health body, AHPPC, remains unchanged. Schools, preschools and early childhood facilities are low risk environments for COVID-19, and should remain open. With the current low rates of infection in South Australia, we are encouraging students to return to school for term 2. Parents and carers can choose to send their children to school, preschool or childcare, and feel confident that they are not placing their children at increased risk of COVID-19. Of course, we will continue to respect the preferences of parents. If they dont feel comfortable sending their children to school or preschool for whatever reason, they wont be obliged to. Please continue your remote learning offering for students learning from home during this time. This will be particularly important for children and young people with medical conditions who may be more vulnerable to COVID-19. As we begin the transition from more students learning at home to more students learning in the classroom, I know there will be a period of adjustment. We had planned for the opposite. The start of term 2 wont be seamless and thats ok (DfE) I am asking for each parent to please contact the preschool via [email protected] to let them know if your children will be returning term 2 or learning from home. This will support us in what to expect on Monday. Please note Teachers will be continuing with their planned curriculum for the first two weeks of term 2. So much time and effort went into the home remote learning, so we will ensure this time was not wasted. Please let teachers know by 12pm Friday about your childs attendance. Thank you Krystal

12.01.2022 Thinking about RAIN.

12.01.2022 As many of you will be aware, one of our current inquiries with the children is about the creatures that share our environment. Recently the children have been showing a big interest in the creatures that live in the sea. On Wednesday, while discussing whales a conversation arose about the need to protect our ocean. As a part of our discussion we talked about oil spills and the proposed drilling site in the Great Australian Bight. It was clear that the children had some conce...rns. We encourage them to use their words and talk about how they feel when they are unhappy about something. We also recognise their right to have a say in matters that affect them, so we asked if they would like to write a letter to Mr Marshall the Premier of South Australia. Here is the result that was forwarded to Mr Marshall via email last night. ( I put their work together last night, so the children have not seen the video yet) If you would like more information visit https://www.wilderness.org.au/about/south-australia See more
