25.01.2022 You Need to Spend Energy to Make Energy One ironic thing I’ve discovered about investing in your energy levels is that you need to spend energy to make energy. For example: It takes energy and willpower to exercise, but you’ll make that energy back, and then some, in increased energy later on.... It takes energy to prepare healthy meals (and resist unhealthy ones), but you’ll get that energy back, too. It takes energy and some planning to head to bed at a reasonable time, but doing so will give you a ton of energy and focus the next day. And while you need to spend energy to make energy, you also have to spend time to make energy. This cost often feels too great. It’s easy to look at the choice of working for 30 more minutes versus hitting the gym for a half hour, and deciding that working longer will let you get more done. Doing so will let you accomplish morebut only in the short term. In the long-run, productivity tactics like getting enough sleep, eating well, and exercising will let you bring more energy and focus to your work. This way you can accomplish more in less time. With knowledge work, people who bring twice the energy and focus to their work will get twice as much done. Cultivating your energy level is easily worth the time and energy. The most productive people recognize the importance of spending energyand timeto gain more energy. When sleep is the issue - Keep your body moving in the mornings when you haven’t slept well It may sound even more tiring, but walking to work or going for a morning jog can counteract the impact of poor sleep, says Dr Chris Alford, founding member of the British Sleep Society. If morning exercise simply feels too painful, be sure to get out at lunchtime at least. Exercise and bright light help get us out of ‘sleep mode’, so get your body going and raise your core temperature, Seeking out bright natural light will help switch off the sleep promoting systems in your brain and enable you to feel more alert. 22.01.2022 Whatever has happened is done. Whether your clean up operation starts on the 1st, 2nd or 4th, stop making it all or nothing. Eating doesn’t have to be that way. Make it about balance. When I say balance, I don’t just mean food. Tackle those excess and unwanted KG’s with a holistic approach, so think about going back to the basics...... Sleep (7-8 hours) Water (minimum 2.25 litres) Movement (if not already exercising then start of with 15 mins of walking a day and build up) Stress (what can you do to manage it and reduce it) Sunlight (are you getting outside enough?) Take it one meal at a time, focusing on the foods that make you feel good and that you’re not still wearing the next day. 21.01.2022 ’Quitters Day’ it’s a thing! For all those that started their New Year’s revolutions on 1st January, studies show that Sunday 19th is the day that most people give up! That’s only 2 1/2 weeks after starting ... Weight loss tops the table of intentions that many find the hardest to achieve, with a third of UK adults struggling with this resolution. The study, commissioned by The 1:1 Diet by Cambridge Weight Plan, reveals that more than three-quarters of UK adults have previously set weight loss as a personal goal and failed with 40 per cent failing as many as five times or more. What can you do to help you stop quitting? Dr Peter Olusoga, senior lecturer in psychology at Sheffield Hallam University, questioned why so many people find it difficult to follow through on the good intentions. To stay on course and motivated, you need to think about what is really important to you health, relationships, family, work, recreation and how you would like to live your life in each of these domains. Commit to specific actions that will move you towards your goals and try to notice when you're no longer travelling in your chosen direction, understanding that you will get back on track by making the choice to recommit. As a nation, Brits often set themselves up for failure by establishing unachievable goals from the start. 20.01.2022 Happy New Year! January can be so full of mixed messages. Who doesn’t love the fresh start feeling, but we can often find all the resolve to change, improve, be good etc. overwhelming. Instead of making resolutions try reflecting on your past year, and gently ease yourself into the New Year with reflection and kindness. I came across this lovely little piece of uplifting and comforting artwork by @katiegreenbean to help us all face the January onslaught. Weight loss and ...maintenance only happens with patience, change and persistence. If you want to keep moving in the right direction maybe a gentler and different approach is needed. Remember all or nothing rarely works for anyone. Make 2021 your year to find your balance. I hope you are able to navigate January kindly, too

18.01.2022 Congratulations to Dan on his incredible Transformation! Dan had sleep apnea and back problems, and was told by his opticians that he had extra pressure in his eyes due to his weight. Dan started The 1:1 Diet at 125kg, and now weighs in at just 80kg! ... Dan followed Step 1b for 12 weeks, then moved up the steps to maintenance over 7 months, and has maintained since. 16.01.2022 CONSULTANT OF THE YEAR So this happened last night ... I was hugely honoured to receive the Consultant of the Year Award, and then further surprised with being Australia’s nomination for International Consultant of the Year tonight ... Thank you to all my clients for all your love and loyalty and for making these awards possible We usually have our annual Awards Ceremony in Melbourne, but last night we held it via Zoom instead. I had 5 of my lovely Team Members join me in my house to party and celebrate. I made a red carpet and gift bags and my talented friend and colleague Rachael Smith provided the amazing balloons. We got dressed up, then danced and partied the night away Thank you for making it such a special evening Rachael, Amanda, Ilana Moddel, Nikki Goldsmith and Tania Samuels. I’m so lucky to have you in my team and so very proud of you all. I had the honour of presenting my lovely Team Member, Amanda Jane the Rising Star Award, which was much deserved after all her hard work. I’m so proud that 2 of my team members, Amanda and Rachael, have not only both won Rising Star 2 years in a row, but we are the only Team in Australia to have had a team member sit alongside their Sponsor regularly in the Top 5 Consultants of Australia. This lovely lady is looking so gorgeous, all that know her can’t talk of anything else!!... Renee has lost the weight on Step 2, and taken a few breaks from the plan, but has never given up. With patience and determination Renee proves that if you want it enough, you can make anything happen even with a few detours on her journey to her goal weight. 14.01.2022 You know those times in life when things feel really tough? You feel overwhelmed and alone, and you wonder whether or not you’re strong enough to handle it. Maybe an issue at home is exhausting, a dynamic at work isn’t getting better, or you’re grieving the loss of someone dear. Sometimes things just seem too much to handle.... If this is you, and you’re doubting your strength, you’re in the right place. You were meant to hear this message today You’re stronger than you think. You’re more capable than you realise. In my years of seeing clients, I’ve never once met someone who realised the full potential of their strength and resilience. We always seem to doubt our strength, underestimating our resiliency and ability to make it through. Strength doesn’t mean you’re not afraid. It doesn’t mean you have all the answers. It means you have the ability to keep going, putting one foot in front of the other, even when fear and doubt say you can’t. Today, I want you to know that you’re stronger than you think. It can be crazy fun, exciting, surprising and beautiful. You name it. And it can also be crazy challenging, scary, stressful, overwhelming etc. And we humans are an expression of life itself. But when life throws curveballs. Many of us are like: Damn... this sh*t is hard. Maybe I should quit and do something else instead? And then you give up on your dream. You simply let go. And deny yourself the experience of something FABULOUS. When you show up consistently. And keep showing life that you want your dream to come true. And when you truly believe and work for it. Then, oh boy, I can promise that life will deliver! Please keep showing up for yourself. Keep pushing, even when things are a little tricky. Because there is always a better time coming. 12.01.2022 It’s been a few months now since my PT @_krugir_ and I have taken things outside of the gym, and have now been joined by my friends, neighbours and clients all coming along to join in the fun too. It’s so much nicer working-out outside, and with the music pumping with a great bunch of people just makes it something to look forward to We now work out on Tuesday, Thursday and Friday mornings. Like dieting, and everything else in life, consistency is key! We are all feeling... so much stronger, fitter and healthier Find the exercise you enjoy albeit walking, swimming, pilates, cycling or something else. Then build it into your weekly routine so it becomes a part of your new improved healthy lifestyle. It doesn’t have to be time consuming or costly to work. 10.01.2022 Inspiration and the determination to succeed doesn’t get much better than Charmaine’s story below in her own words of her 53.9 kgs weight loss battle: 'In June 2002 Darren proposed to me, 19 years old, with a 6 week old son. I had been dieting but I was still carrying a lot of baby weight. I said "yes, I'll marry you but only when I've lost weight"......5 months later I was pregnant again! Fast forward 9 months, I was 6 stone heavier from having our daughter and started bac...k on the diet wagon..... My weight went up and down for many years. Being a mum of two small kiddies life was busy, both children diagnosed with Autism and other conditions, life was stressful and I developed depression. 09.01.2022 ’Welcome’ or ‘Welcome Back Again’ This week I have been inundated with not only new client enquiries but current clients contacting me as they have decided to get back on plan after taking a pause before Christmas. They have decided now is the time to take their goals seriously, and many have booked to start at the beginning of February. Well done to you all for deciding that the food party has finally ended and now is the time to clean up the diet, by treating yourself to... a nutritionally complete plan, that involves no junk or alcohol. Remember just how good you feel after only 3-4 days back on plan? If you’re struggling to get back in the zone, please remember that after just a few days of being 100% on plan, this is all it takes to get you knuckled down again. Keep trying, keep learning from previous mistakes and triggers, and then one day something just clicks and you say, Enough, no more, I’m going to make this happen. And it’s down to you to make this happen, as no one can do this for you. So get out of your own way, as you can do this... Despite your family driving you crazy Despite falling out with a sibling Despite work being stressful Despite an unkind word from a colleague Despite you feeling unwell Despite a loved ones illness Despite how a friend let you down Despite an upcoming social event or weekend away Despite who your consultant is Despite trying and failing previously Despite a pandemic You CAN do this... 08.01.2022 Dr Hyman says Reducing or eliminating alcohol intake lowers inflammation, which contributes to heart disease and nearly every other chronic disease. Drinking wine is like a U-shaped curve. A little bit is OK; a little more is bad news. For women, wine can be especially damaging. Why? Increased alcohol load means your liver can’t metabolize estrogen well. Increased estrogen in the body can lead to breast cancer. ... In addition, a study published in the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition found that people who consumed just two alcoholic beverages in one sitting experienced a significant decrease in fat burning two hours later. While wine and hard liquor are okay in small amounts, beer is off limits. It’s loaded with carbs (one can of beer has about the same amount as a slice of white bread) and gluten. Sugary cocktails are also out of the question, and beer alternatives such as hard cider are not any better than beer. See more

It’s for an amazing local homeless charity called Plates4Mates that offer a local food service to the homeless every sunday night at Alfred Park, Surrey Hills. 14 DAYS OF GIVING - A great way to educate children about homelessness and the beauty of giving without receiving Christmas is upon us... For many this is not a time of family and celebration. It can be a period of loneliness, sadness and anxiety. Plates4mates will be having their Christmas dinner service on Sunday 13th of December. A plates4mates incentive: Our aim is to gift our homeless friends with beautiful packages filled with some Christmas fare. Hoping to bring some light and love to them at this time of year From tomorrow we would be so grateful if items could be donated. Two weeks of giving to those who have less than us. We can collect these or you can drop them to my house in Meagher Avenue, Maroubra. We will package these and give them to those in our community who are in need 23rd November .. Chocolates 24th November .. Packet of Shapes 25th November .. Small Christmas cake 26th November .. Packet of lollies 27th November .. Candy canes 28th November .. And there’s no question that walking is good for you. ... Studies show that people who walk regularly have less body fat than those who don’t. It also reduces the risk of blood clots, since the calves act as venous pumps, contracting and pumping blood from the feet and legs and back to the heart, reducing the load on the heart. 05.01.2022 The Problem with Perfection Why would you seek being perfect? Usually, we strive toward being perfect to compensate for a sense of inadequacy. People who want to be perfect usually have an exaggerated sense of their own shortcomings. They typically received messages earlier in life that they weren't good enough.... In our culture, we move relentlessly toward greater emphasis on achievement and goal orientation. When we do so, we seem to lose the capacity for wonder and awe. Could you imagine looking at a magnificent rainbow and complaining that one of the colors wasn't perfect? Not only would that be ridiculous, but we'd also be ruining the splendor of the moment. And yet that is exactly what we do when we judge ourselves for our imperfections. We forget that as humans we're part of nature, as well. 04.01.2022 At the NASA Space Science Center, there's a bumblebee poster that says: "The aerodynamic body of a bumblebee is not suitable for flying, but it's a good thing the bumblebee doesn't know it". The law of physics, the aerodynamic principle says that the width of the wings is too small to hold its huge body in flight, but the bee doesn't know, doesn't know about physics or its logic, and still flies.... This is something we can all do, fly and win anytime before any difficulties and under any circumstances despite what they say. Bumblebees, regardless of the size of their wings, fly and enjoy life.
