10.01.2022 Hey ladies Em Here! I don’t train upper body because I don’t want to get too big and bulky! The famous words of SO many females.... With so many women concerned about this, I wanted to lay this to rest once and for all! Firstly, we understand that bulky is completely subjective. When it comes to our bodies it’s up to us to decide what level of muscularity we desire. But, what we can tell you is that not a single expert alive has stated that women can build more than 250g-500g of lean muscle per month & that generally slows down the longer you have been training. And, this is in women who are actually making a conscious effort to gain lean mass and are eating to support these goals! The X factor that can often be ignored in the bulky discussion is body fat. Strength training can increase your appetite and therefore you may consume more calories than what you’re burning. This can lead to muscle gain, as well as some fat, increased glycogen stores and holding onto more water as well! This will most definitely increase your overall size, but we promise you’re not hulking out because of your muscle gains! A simple fix with a decreased caloric intake will do the trick! Mass gains do not happen overnight, it’s a complex task and your nutrition will play a vital role here. Also, strength and muscle gains can put you ahead of the game! Bet you didn’t know that as we we get older, women tend to lose up to 35% muscle/strength per year! If you have more lean mass to begin with and you continue strength training, you can greatly reduce the negative side effects associated with this. So, try not to miss those upper body movements programmed into your sessions as they’ll help you become the fittest, strongest, sexiest and most kick-ass version of yourself! Coach Em

Jake’s main priority when joining ONE80 was to increase lean muscle mass & to improve his wellbeing overall. With our high level strength and conditioning sessions & a tweak with his caloric intake, we were able to achieve these results in just 8 weeks. Yes, results may differ - but only because some are willing to put in more work than others. With the right guidance & some discipline, these can be your results too. 06.01.2022 If a coach has ever said to you squeeze your glutes or find your glutes or glutes on and for the love of god you just can’t feel them fire - you’re not alone! For so many of us, mind to muscle connection, especially the glutes, can be pretty much non-existent. This can be the outcome of a number of contributing factors, but you can mostly thank the sedentary modern day lifestyle for that. Sitting down for extended periods of the day completely disengage your glute muscl...es. The more you sit, the less you’ll use them. You’ll often see our coaches feature some glute activation exercises in our squat or deadlift prep to ensure we’ve recruited the correct muscle groups to allow for a safer, stronger lift! If you’re not feeling your glutes when your coach is telling you to - don’t be afraid to speak up and actually say you don’t feel them at all. If they adapt and offer the correct exercises to assist, then you’re onto a good one. If not, maybe it’s time to reconsider? #one80gym #one80community #betterthanyesterday

These sessions help to introduce members to potential new movements that they may not be used too, plus help to fast track t...heir ability to transition into our group strength & conditioning sessions that our members love! Alternatively, working 1 on 1 long-term with your very own personal coach may be more your style & this is something our coaches would love to assist you guys with!
