24.01.2022 Never been a truer word said. Thankyou Mr Matisse!
24.01.2022 Hi all, soon my page name will be changing to "one brave chick". Its a little business Ive been tinkering on for a while and the time has come to spread the word. I offer a few different things, you know about the illustrations but I do graphic design work and most recently website design. My motivation behind it is to help people who need a website presence but dont have a huge budget, and want a beautiful looking website. You can pop over to my website and read all about it. Would love it if you could share this with anyone you think I might be able help out. Thanks! Please message me if youd like to know more!
23.01.2022 Over the last month or so, Ive had the pleasure of working with Professor Corinna Hawkes. Together we created her blog site. She has a really important message to share with the world, which she already does in her academic life at the highest levels. Shes now taking the opportunity to speak in her own words about the importance of commiting to The Better Food Journey. Do have a read, shes got an amazing way with words. You can follow her on twitter using @corinnahawkes

23.01.2022 My office for the day. Us Melburians are so lucky to have such a beautiful State Library. #statelibrary #greatplacetoworkonasaturday
22.01.2022 Well some good news to end the week! My illustrations have included in the report of the study undertaken by Jesuit Social Services and the Men's Project - "Unpacking the Manbox" "The study outlined in this report - Unpacking the Man Box - builds on the findings of Jesuit Social Services initial Man Box research. The initial Man Box... report used descriptive statistics to examine the association between masculine norms in aggregate (as opposed to the individual Man Box pillars) without controlling for demographic variables. Unpacking the Man Box aims to understand the unique contribution of masculinity and its pillars to the well-being of young men. This work also builds on research with young adult men in the United States, United Kingdom and Mexico that was released by Promundo in 2017 (Heilman, Barker, & Harrison, 2017)." I'm so rapt because these guys are truly at the coal face of change, addressing healthier masculinities! Which makes a better world for ALL! The link is below if you would like to read the report. https://jss.org.au//the-mens-project/unpacking-the-man-box/

16.01.2022 I love it when a website that I co-create with my clients goes live! This is a great example of a site that is really simple and serves a specific purpose for my clients clients. Its a vehicle for her to post resources to, that she can direct her clients to and also gives her a presence on the web if someone does need a psychologist. Heres what Andrea from Schema Psychology had to say about the process and a link to her brand new site: One brave chick - Jan was extremely... patient, knowledgeable, professional and skilled in designing my website. I could not have done it without her as I was not feeling sure about content and setup. Jan guided me through and I was very excited to go live. I feel empowered now having my own site Oh! And I did the illustration too!
16.01.2022 Just had to share this because it makes me smile every time I watch it!
16.01.2022 Have you ever done the VIA character strengths survey? One of my top 5 was Appreciation of excellence and beauty. It confirmed for me why I am constantly touched by the beauty of the simple things in nature...love these. Whats your top strength?
16.01.2022 Had to share! Makes your heart melt! Happy Friday peoples!

15.01.2022 Hello all, I'm wanted to share something really cool with you. Since starting my own business, I've been fortunate enough to be introduced to the work of the Edge Community Fund. I've started to do some pro bono work for this little charity who is has a small team of people, who are all volunteers, so all the money to goes to the cause. They provide support to the families of young people that are doing it hard financially, to ensure they are able to participate in their education and sport amongst other things. I've just set up their facebook for them, so can you please do me a favour and pop over and like the page? Soon you will be able to make a donation, so if you are wondering which charity you might give to this Christmas, please consider the Edge Community Fund.
14.01.2022 Ive seen some of these before and wow! How cool are they??
13.01.2022 I've recently had the pleasure of working for Pippa from "All Manner of Things". She's been in business for some years now and it was time to get a website! We worked together on her site and here's what she had to say about the process, oh and me! There's a link at the bottom to check out her site. "Working with one brave chick has been a joy and a revelation to me. Jans ability to understand my needs as a client, to grasp what I do and what I need, and to cater to my aesth...etic preferences has been exceptional. She has made the otherwise daunting (to me!) technical aspects of creating a website easy, and supported me through the co-attendant decisions about providers and platforms. Throughout the process she has been courteous, warm, available, respectful, enthusiastic and professional. Whats not to love? Whether you have a clear idea of what you like and what you want in terms of your brand and your website, or whether you are quite unsure about how to get started on any of it, Jan has the skillset to bring your project to fruition. I absolutely LOVE the finished products she has given me to take into the future (logo, materials, website). I am eager to begin phase two of our collaboration. This has been a genuine collaboration, every step of the way. I wont be letting go of one brave chick in a hurry I am just starting to see what Jan can make possible!"
13.01.2022 Do it! Its good for your soul!
12.01.2022 The perfection in these are amazing! Check out the detail and symmetry. Nature is an amazing creative force...the skill of the photographer is pretty amazing too!
11.01.2022 Making art is important for all of us! Other research has shown that producing visual art diminishes the experience of negative emotions and increases positive ones and reduces depression, stress, and anxiety. There appears to be a significant connection between producing visual art and physical health as well, especially since visual art production has been linked with reducing cortisol, the hormone associated with stress.

07.01.2022 I recently had the pleasure of working with the Craig Family Centre in developing their new website! I took everything from their old site, worked with their awesome team to update it and migrated it to their new site. Not only are they stoked with the result, they can easily manage the site themselves! Anyone in small business and community groups knows that keeping costs to a minimum is key - especially now with all the uncertainty in the world! Have a look at the link below.
