20.01.2022 This weeks LEGEND OF THE PLAINS Feature is: Clarendon Vale Neighborhood Centres Volunteer Team! I would like to nominate ALL the volunteers that have given their time and worked tirelessly during the pandemic to provide hot and frozen meals to the Clarence Plains community. Over 300 hot meals have been delivered to community members in need every Tuesday night across Rokeby, Clarendon Vale, Oak Downs and Glebe Hill. Those meal deliveries have included a surprise pack of ac...tivities or engagement ideas that bring people together and help people to interact over social media during isolation. Many care packs and goody bags have also been provided along the way. The team have worked extraordinary hours to complete this mammoth task and the Facebook posts in appreciation say it all. My nomination is for all the staff and volunteers that have worked at the CVNC and who have contributed to making this happen since isolation and lock down. What absolute legends! We are so grateful for the support provided by the Clarendon Vale Neighbourhood centre during this time and want to thank them for all their hard work and dedication. If you know any of the legends working tirelessly at the Clarendon Vale Neighborhood Centre, please tag them below so they can get the recognition they deserve. Do you know of another legend in the community? Nominate them at the OCT website today! We will recognize a new legend every week. https://onecommunitytogether.org.au/

I would love to nominate Jeremy Richardson who owns and runs a wonderful small moving business that is Tasmanian owned and based Southern Secure Transport. He has such a big heart and I would to thank him for everything he ...has done for me and for our community. During the pandemic, Jeremy ensured that every day essential items were always delivered while I was self-isolated and unable to go to the shops. He assisted me with whatever I needed in a really trying time. He was always going above and beyond what was expected and never asked for anything extra in return. Jeremy has a really big heart and has a wonderful team of staff working for him, all of who provided amazing assistance during this really challenging time. They supported many homes and businesses throughout Tasmania and they never stopped working. They would always be placing those in need first, always treating us with the upmost kindness and respect. 16.01.2022 Hobart City Mission received a very generous 325kg donation of Cadburys Easter Eggs from the RHH Research Foundation early last week. HCM were able to utilize the One Community Together network to distribute them to families needing support in the Clarence Plains community. We gave 300 bags to the Clarendon Vale neighborhood house to deliver to the community in the coming weeks! We gave 150 bags to Mission Australia Housing to include in their COVID-19 care packs next week. T...hese packs will be delivered to over 500 tenets in the Clarence Plains community. Our final 200 bags were dropped off to the Rokeby Neighborhood center today. 15.01.2022 We started 2020 by asking you what you would like to see happening in Clarence Plains. Thanks again to everyone who returned a postcard with ideas! We all love Clarence Plains and we are really excited to hear about what you would like to see and do in your community. We loved reading your ideas of things you would like to see in 2020. Some of our planning for 2020 has been slowed down by COVID-19 but we are more eager than ever to reconnect with our community and continue o...ur conversations. We were deeply inspired by our lucky resident who received a $100 Woolworths gift card and asked us to donate it to someone else in the community because they knew there were others in our community facing new challenges due to the COVID-19 crisis. You can read their message on our facebook page below. Thank you for sharing your thoughts about things we can focus on. We hear you and your voice matters. Your ideas will be explored by our focus teams throughout 2020. You can tell us your thoughts or ideas anytime. 12.01.2022 This Week's LEGEND OF THE PLAINS Feature is: Patsy Shreeve!!! Patsy is a very well known and loved member of our Clarence Plains Community. Patsy started volunteering in Clarence Plains in her early 30's almost 30 years ago at a Program called " feeling Beautiful". She volunteered at the Clarendon Vale Neighbourhood Centre for many years and has also been on various committees in her time. Patsy started volunteering at the Rokeby Neighbourhood Centre over 6 years ago, where ...she has been an integral part of all their services, helping to create a warm and welcoming environment for all. During the pandemic, Patsy played a huge role in supporting the Rokeby community through a time of uncertainty and change. She was dedicated to giving up her time to help with the sorting and making of hundreds of hampers, meals and Isolation packs to go out to those in need. Patsy played a key role in keeping the community engaged during the pandemic by providing virtual tours of the Rokeby Neighbourhood Centre’s Second Hand Shop. This allowed community members to safely stay engaged online while still being able to shop the things they loved and needed. Patsy is always the first point of call for community members when they come to visit the Centre. She takes care of everyone’s safety by imposing the Tasmanian COVID-19 restriction plan to all Centre participants and Visitors. She makes sure everyone is signed in and accounted for, knows how to socially distance correctly and is even taking peoples temperatures on arrival. I believe Patsy has shown great courage in supporting our community during this devastating time and is a true local legend. Pasty has continued to volunteer through the difficult circumstances putting the community first to help people to adjust to the new norm" WHAT A LOCAL LEGEND!!! Patsy is an absolute pillar in our community and is known to many for her kind, caring and friendly ways. She is the type of person who will always go out of her way to help and who always sees the best in others.
