22.01.2022 INTERNATIONAL OSTEOPATHIC HEALTHCARE WEEK On a personal noteOsteopathy has enhanced my life; both personally and professionally Matt Hempsell I was first introduced to Osteopathy here in Port Macquarie over 21 years ago, seeking treatment from John Norman, who was the first Osteopath to practice here in Port Macquarie. I was amazed at his treatment approach and the effectiveness of the treatment.... Prior to and since seeking Osteopathy for my own musculoskeletal health, I have seen many professionals from many professions for both sporting and daily overuse injuries. Overwhelmingly I’ve found Osteopathy to be the most effective and beneficial approach for me. After our time in Port Macquarie I returned to my ‘then home’ of London, practicing clinically and with professional sporting teams as a Sports Therapist, whilst training to become an Osteopath, gaining invaluable education from some of the world’s most renowned Osteopaths. Once qualified, I practiced in London for a time and then moved back to Port Macquarie, where I have been practicing for more than 10 years, and intend to do so for the remainder of my career. Based on the Osteopathic principles, our body has the innate ability to heal itself if given the right opportunity. Osteopathy may help our body be as structurally sound and as functional as it can be. This, coupled with a healthy lifestyle, gives our body this wonderful opportunity to be in the best place it can to heal itself, leading to better overall health. With now over 20 years clinical experience, Osteopathy’s principles and treatment approach resonate with me and the lifestyle I strive to live by, giving me, my family and the people I treat the ability to access the most functional life we can achieve. This person will provide reception/administrative duties in our multi-disciplinary health centre.
