05.01.2022 After a good meal, nothing leaves a bad taste in ones mouth like getting slugged with a credit card surcharge. Being a big fan of Apple pay, I rarely carry cas...h (or even a wallet) anymore, I find that most establishments are happy to accept credit cards no matter the size of the bill. Cashless seems to be the way of the future but there are always one or two late to adopters who just cant seem to get with the program. Today I had lunch at a Tahi restaurant in Bondi Junction the bill came to $14 when I went over to settle my tab by credit card I was politely hit with a $1 surcharge, thats over 7% of the cost the meal, highway robbery! The sign pictured below conveniently hiding behind various decorations on the counter. Since September 2017 businesses are only allowed to charge customers what it actually cost hem to process the payment via EFTPOS, I am doubtful the cost could ever have been over the 7% that I was asked to pay. Yeah sure, I could have kicked up a fuss but in the end, I opted to vote with my feet by not to returning to the restaurant and having a quick rant on Social media. Cheers Daniel
