25.01.2022 This is an awesome bit of kit to have in your handbag to ensure you have a #plasticfreelunch Ive been using it at the Japanese place I go which still offers plastic cutlery. The trick is not forgetting it when you leave! My local cafe The Little Shop of Plenty sells them as well as the metal straws which are really handy to ensure we see less of those floating in our oceans with the

25.01.2022 The time to stop using plastic and starting to clean up our oceans is long past overdue

24.01.2022 Well put, mining is still mining. And waste still poorly managed in Australia: https://www.theage.com.au//enormous-lithium-waste-dump-pla|f7d34108bec6b6e9eeb371f1e799fa51

23.01.2022 I know sushi is a convenient, fairly healthy lunch for busy employees. But it’s one of the worst offenders for sing,e use plastic. Plastic for the soy sauce, wasabi, ginger etc, a,, in pieces so small it can’t be recycled, so it just goes into landfill and ends up in the waterways. Can one of you please start leading the way in sustainable packaging option? Get on board Jaws Sushi - please! #plasticfreerevolution

22.01.2022 These guys need love too..xxx

17.01.2022 These beautiful, innocent, sweet furry Australians need our help more than ever and the human race continues to fuck up the lives of every living creature and the planet on which they and we all inhabit. Sometimes I just pray for an alien invasion to show us how to live right.

17.01.2022 Such a beautiful photo needs to be shared

17.01.2022 Seriously people need to become more aware on the roads. :(

17.01.2022 These guys are the jewel in Perth's crown, we need to all take responsibility for looking after them.

16.01.2022 Happy #worldenvironmentday people! A while back I got this free straw from the Australian Marine Conservation Society with these calling cards to give out to food and drink outlets to help bring the #plasticrevolution. I deliberately avoid places that still give out plastic containers, cutlery and straws, in particular #asiantakeway and #sushi outlets. Itd be great if they got rid of all the plastic too so I could go back to them, but in the meantime there are plenty of places that are using eco packaging now to choose from!

16.01.2022 I had thought that most Australians were too ambivalent to ever stand up to their government and hold them to account. It gives me hope for the future of our country that I was wrong on this occasion: https://www.news.com.au//news-story/b3351652fcaf1b73211659|d0d10ec60a2278ed9df62ad5c6c09c32

14.01.2022 City of Canning - this is in Pagoda Lane

12.01.2022 Every restaurant and bar I go to is about to start getting these...Plastic-Free Revolution

12.01.2022 Happy Plastic Free July people! I found this website recently which has heaps of product that are better options for this planet of ours :)

12.01.2022 Of all the objects I hate in this world, disposable nappies is number one. Theres always been a better alternative for all those little shit factories out there, it just takes a bit more hard work at a time when parents are exhausted already...

12.01.2022 It's so heartbreaking to animals suffering like this. The people doing all they can to help these animals are inspirational. I wish there was more I could do, but money will have to be enough.

11.01.2022 What a disgrace digging up a historical cemetery to make way for apartments. The corporate greed on WA developers has no boundaries. They make me sick

11.01.2022 Going to the #Bees2HoneyFestival Inc. at the Gidgegannup Small Farm Field day proved to be a great networking opportunity. Apart from seeing all the adorable little baby farm animals, and trying this delicious natural #beefirmnrg drink, there was a range of #localhoney producers from all over WA showcasing the art of #beekeeping. And it is an art, it essentially involves taming a wild species! Doesnt get more challenging than that, but thats why its becoming so popular. ...The more #beehives there are in WA - the better. Not only does this give us more access to better quality locally-produced honey, most of us know now that healthy bee populations are essential for insuring our food security now and into the future. Check out iconhoney.com.au for some of the best to come out of the Southwest. I cant wait to see what kind of honey can be produced at the property in Gingin! See more

11.01.2022 Gruesome image warning: But one issue our Gov should be forking out for.

11.01.2022 It can only be won if everyone gets on board..

10.01.2022 And he gets my vote for #coronavirus candidate!

07.01.2022 My mind is blown by how much plastic and crap just one human being can generate, that all goes into landfill or shipped to South East Asian nations to deal with, typically by clearing rainforest to create a landfill reservoir, or just by dumping it in the ocean. Then we go there for holidays to surf and snorkel in our own waste! Seriously WTF. This pile is about 2 weeks of garbage that Ive been putting off dealing with because I just dont know what to do with it. Separate i...t into recyclables and not recyclable? Well the not pile is starting to get pretty big, and apparently the recyclables dont get recycled anyway. I think Ive held onto it to remind myself just how bad the plastic situation is until I had the time to really think about it and come up with a way to deal with it. Its really time to make a conscientious decision about how much plastic we use and do everything we can to reduce our reliance on it. This was my New Years resolution. I realise Im a bit behind - we all are. The clock is ticking. So Im going to try and start a revolution, starting with me. I hope this helps effect a positive change for no other reason than I love nature, I love wildlife and I care about this planet #plasticisthedevil #plasticfreelunch. See more

07.01.2022 Have you ever just given your money away to a company for nothing? Ever gone to a restaurant, not been fed, and paid the bill anyway? I and the owners at Unison... on Tenth have, and continue to do so. I'm sharing this so as many people as possible know what they are getting into when they purchase a strata property, particularly if their Council of Owners and strata managers are bullies like the ones at #UnisononTenth and Blackburne Property Group are. For the past 3 years, there has been essentially zero engagement on where the additional funds the COO has imposed on us have been going. My strata levies have gone from $560 a quarter, to the latest invoice being $750 a quarter - for what appears to be a whole lotta nothing! Allegedly, it was meant to go towards employing a building supervisor for added security and maintenance of the complex. That was 2 years ago and there has been no sign of them, or any update on this. Meanwhile, the gardens are desolate and many of the plants are diseased and the halls are filthy. So where the f$#@ is our money going? While I'm always prepared to pay for things I actually get, like my power bill, and the strata levies to the amount I agreed to when I initially moved in, I resent a small number of owners being given the authority to decide that I should give them an extra $800 per year of my hard-earned money to do whatever they want with it, which so far has included taking photos of my front door, invoicing me for a friend's dog jumping in the pool on a hot day - and not much else! Meanwhile, my complaints about a neighbours dog howling relentlessly all day went nowhere, which might have something to do with members of our Council of Owners keeping their own large dogs in their tiny apartments, which sucks for the dog as well as their neighbours.. Now they want to sue me for non-payment of these ridiculous and arbitrary charges they have imposed on me and other owners. Something stinks - and something's gotta give, which is why I'm choosing to take a stand on this and refuse to put up with this horseshit any longer. I'll continue to provide updates on this on all my social media channels on where this goes.

06.01.2022 This plan by the WA Gov to allocate itself pot licenses to lease to foreign countries has huge implications for all 'natural resources' industries, not just this one...if they can do this to crayfishing they can do this to ANY industry that operates in the ocean or on WA land. Go along and support the livelihoods of EVERYONE whose livelihoods involve farming, forestry, fishing, and mining.

06.01.2022 So sad the impact the human race is having on nature..

05.01.2022 Alright. A lot of people have asked. I'm a Firefighter in Australia. Let's talk about the fires. First of all does being a firery give me all the insight to thi...s complex issue? Not even close and I need to make that clear. However I've felt a strong need to say something here because I just can't stomach some of the false science and outright lies being peddled on social media as news or facts. Hazard reduction burns - No, the Greens haven't been stopping hazard reduction burns from taking place. We still do them and yes we should absolutely do more of them. Yes, the weather extremes and droughts have significantly reduced the window in which it is safe to perform these burns. Yes, the state governments need to invest more money in HRB's. NSW for example, as an estimate, would need to increase their budget from $100million to a half billion, a five fold increase and that money needs to come from somewhere. Yes, national parks, wildlife and nature reserves need to burn also but are hard to. They are the sanctuary's for Australian fauna who can no longer survive in the farmlands and housing estates we've constructed. Indiscriminate burning of national parks will literally wipe species off the face of the earth as they often have nowhere else to go. Yes, indigenous people used to manage the land through burning and have an important contribution here. However, Australia is a different landscape now, home to 24 million people and so HRB's needs to be managed differently. Yes, conditions have been so bad this season that fires have still burnt through areas where hazard reduction burns were completed earlier in the year. Climate change - No climate change is not starting fires. Lightening strikes, people, negligence etc.. is starting fires. BUT Yes, climate change is contributing to increasing temperatures and increasing drought severity which is creating worsening fire conditions. Yes, climate change is contributing to a longer fire season. Yes, we should have acted on climate change long ago. All of us. The whole world. Everyone. No, no one knows exactly how much climate change has contributed to exacerbating the conditions for this year's catastrophic fire season however the best science available and scientific consensus is that there is an undeniable link. Aerial firefighting - Yes, as the fire season grows longer and northern and southern hemisphere fire seasons overlap more and more, Australia will have to invest in its own aerial firefighting fleet and not rely on leasing from overseas. Perhaps we should have done this earlier. We didn't. Politics and the media - Yes these fires have been politicised and yes our media is politicised. If you're left leaning and read Fairfax newspapers, you're more likely to blame Scomo and the government right now for their response. If you're right leaning and read News Ltd newspapers you're more likely to blame the greens right now for 'stopping' hazard reduction burns. Your social media is politicised in the same way and will show and share media that supports your general position and most likely strengthen your own existing narrative. No, a video on FB of a guy in the bush screaming at the greens is not facts about what caused these fires. No, a video of someone shouting at Scomo for not funding the NSW Rural Fire Service (state gov funded) is not facts about what caused these fires. Has Scomo done enough? Should he have gone on holidays? If you know me you know I'm left leaning so my answer will naturally contain a bias. The best solution? A royal commission. Let's let impartial experts tell us what went wrong and how to act in response to it. I think you'll find we're all a little bit right as well as a little bit wrong. What can you do right now?? Fucking donate!! The Red Cross appeal, the Salvation Army, Wires, Port Macquarie Koala Hospital, your state Rural Fire Service. Whoever. Do your research and donate wisely. On top of this, once the smoke clears, grab your mates or family, jump in the car and visit these towns, spend money in their shops, stay the night, help get their local economy's back on track. They will need our support. Finally, to all of my firefighting brethren back home in Sydney, the Blue Mountains and the whole east coast, both career and volunteer, I know you've worked harder in the last 6 weeks than you've ever worked in your entire life and I'm so immensely proud of you all. Stay safe. @mattabbottphoto

05.01.2022 A great article.

04.01.2022 Discovered Im Not Plastic Co today while I was at the LouVe Cafe - it's so awesome to see cafes getting behind the plastic free movement. They also had plastic free bottles of water for sale. Thanks for looking out for our oceans! :)

04.01.2022 New Zealand seems to be way ahead of us in the environmental sustainability stakes. Imagine this packaging being used in all the hotels in all the world, rather than all those tiny plastic bottles that cant be recycled because theyre too small and end up in landfill or the ocean. My New Years resolution is to avoid unsustainable plastic use wherever possible. Visit www.healthpak.co.nz for more info, and no Im not paid to endorse this product.

03.01.2022 It looked like it's been knocked to the ground when we drive past it last night!

02.01.2022 Making a solid commitment this week to say goodbye to the plastic in my life, starting with a #plasticfreelunch. The boxes on the left are from one of my favourite places #thelunchbox. While they use a heap of plastic takeaway containers, their BMTs come in recyclable cardboard boxes. My other new fave is #MadMex - also doing their bit for the planet using bio packaging. I'm avoiding all #sushi and #asiantakeaway places from now on until they come up with takeaway options that aren't in plastic containers. #plasticisthedevil
