22.01.2022 From the maker of the Old Vine Barossa Shiraz we present. The Crescent Basket Press Shiraz 2019. The second hand crafted wine to feature in our 6 pack competition. Learn more: https://bit.ly/2ZJXPXx... The Bakaj Vineyards at Crescent-Renmark lie in one of the most fertile soils along our river Murray. This fertile black clay and very dry climatic conditions have produced fruit of great quality and intensity. It is here from the Shiraz Vineyard that One Lonely Barrel has chosen to make our second Shiraz to our Multi Medal Winning One Barrel Barossa Shiraz. The Crescent is a bold, full bodied, fruit driven Shiraz. Deep red in colour with an intense purple hue. The nose has hints of white pepper, cloves and blackcurrant aromas. The palate is layered with dark fruits and berries. Well balanced with lightly integrated French oak, allowing the fruit and flavours to dominate! A great wine to be enjoyed at the dinner table or a BBQ with Family and Friends!

21.01.2022 Racking - One of the great Secrets @ One Lonely Barrel, The 1st Racking is done 2 to 3 weeks after the Pressing. The wine is siphoned out of the Barrels into a large tank. Careful not to disturb the sediment at the bottom of the Barrel some manual Handling is required.... Racking occurs a further up to 6 times over an 18 -24 month maturation period and the benefits that I will explain in my Next and last Newsletter are what makes One Lonely barrel, so approachable very soon after bottling. The Benefits of Racking: The benefits of Racking in my view are as follows; Preserves the full fruit flavours and aromas in the wine as Racking provides natural filtering. One Lonely Barrel is so clean by the time it goes to Bottling only a high gauge filter, so maximum flavour, aroma and Colour is preserved. Through the racking process the wine gets to breath so any unwanted odours remaining are dicarded, oxygen is absorbed(Just like decanting) which ages the wine and why One Lonely Barrel Barossa Shiraz is so deliciously drinkable so soon after Bottling!
