20.01.2022 IF YOU STILL WANT TO DO THIS, Please send a email to the WA Ministers HUNDREDS OF CARNARVON RESIDENTS RALLY TO SAVE JETTY Around 500 Carnarvon residents rallie...d in support of saving the historic One Mile Jetty yesterday. Carnarvon Chamber of Commerce and Industry president Luke Vandeleur said the historic structure was a commercially significant feature. "I would like to see more spoken about the impact not having this jetty has for Carnarvon," he said. "From a commercial perspective, the Chamber sees it as something that's very important for the town." "It brings people to town and gives them something to do here." Mr Vandeleur said many local businesses rely on tourism. "Without it, it's a pretty bleak outcome," he said. "We need to maintain a level of interest in it and keep getting our voices heard so it doesn't get forgotten about." 12.01.2022 Here we again at the weekend, my doesn't time fly when you are having fun! Our hard working volunteers are once again on board and we will be open Saturday and Sunday 8am to 1pm. Visit us for Breakfast served all day, take a ride on the coffee pot train, return for morning tea, wander through the gallery, enjoy a light lunch, finishing with a walk along one of the walktrails. We have several walk trails for you to wander along - the Rivermouth Walktrail, the Tramway Walkt...rail and the Inner Mangrove Walktrail. The Gascoyne Rivermouth Walktrail is a 400m walk starting at the Carnarvon Heritage Precinct and taking in views of the Gascoyne River and the One Mile Jetty. This walktrail has two lookouts with history and interpretation of the area. The Tramway Walktrail runs along the railway line from the Carnarvon Heritage Precinct into the town centre across the tramway bridge. As you wander along the 3km journey you will cross Babbage Island, Whitlock Island and Whitlock Creek. The Whitlock Island Station erected in December 2001 by the Carnarvon Heritage Group is located along this walktrail. The Inner Mangrove Walktrail starts at the Carnarvon Heritage Precinct Car Park with a and meanders out into the mangroves over an environmentally friendly recycled plastic boardwalk. This boardwalk has been constructed by students training programs and will be extended over time by ongoing groups of students. See more
