23.01.2022 NEW COACH ANNOUNCMENT - Anthony Wootton - Youth Development Coach... Born in England I moved with my family to Australia in 1981 as a young four year old. For the first five years we moved a lot and lived in three different states before finally settling in WA in 1986. Having gained an apprenticeship in 1993 I left school early to pursue a career as a tradesmen which I did until I was in my early thirtys. I then attended college to study a diploma in film which lead to several film jobs in the coming years. I ended up working in real estate after film production in WA ran dry in 2014. I then continued real estate sales wining the Professinals rising star for WA award in 2018. I continued in this industry until I gained my dream position at the WAFC at the start of 2020. In my youth I played soccer and did a total 12 years of surf life saving. When I hit 18 and decided I’d give AFL footy a go. Within two years I finished in the top three in my respective colts side. I then had a life threatening motorcycle accident that kept me out of competitive sport for two years with my eventual return to footy in a amateur league side. I then went on to play 200 games of amateur football and gave up surf life saving unfortunately due to work commitments. I completed in triathlons and half marathons to assist my football fitness. Football has now become my life. I wish to give back to the community the enjoyment I have had playing at grassroots level and all players of any level get a game. 20.01.2022 NEW COACH ANNOUNCEMENT!! - Tadhg Kennelly - 197 AFL Games (Sydney Swans)... 2005 AFL Premiership Player Former Gaelic Football Player 10 Years Coaching Experience Swans Assistant Coach (AFL Team) AIS Academy Coach International Rules Coach Swans Academy Coach Swans Reserve Coach NSW/ACT 16's & 18's Coach Born in Listowel, County Kerry, Ireland Tadhg Kennelly is the son of a Kerry football star and grew up playing GAA both for local and county teams. In 1999, he made the momentous decision to move to Australia to play Aussie Rules football. He debuted for the Sydney Swans in 2001 and went on to become one of their star players. In 2005 he won an AFL Premiership medal with the Swans, the first Irishman to do so. He was plagued by injury throughout his final season in Australia, but through both his columns on the Sydney Swans website and the attention lavished on him by Australian broadcasters, Tadhg retained a high profile. In 2009 he returned to Ireland and joined the Kerry County panel. He returns to SYDNEY to play two more years before chronic knee and shoulders issues ended his very successful career. Following retirement he went into recruiting and everything to do with International recruiting. recruiting players like Mason Cox, Connor Mckenna, Mark O Connor just to name a few. He was then appointed head coach of the Sydney Swans reserves and in his first year they reached the Grand Final. He was then promoted to the Swans defends and team defends coach. He is now at the Swans as the Swans Midfield coach. Life after football was a challenge. Coming from having everything done for you to finding your own two feet. It certainly took me a while to adjust but unbeknown to myself the lessons I learnt while playing have really stood to me in life after football. Really without knowing it, I have a real drive/determination to set goals and reach them, something which was very much a part of my day to day life as a footballer. The one thing I miss from living as a professional footballer is the constant feedback you receive good or bad. This was how you improved as an athlete and certainly today it is something in which I have to go and chase up. I am so fortunate to have a life which involves sport and everyday I count my lucky stars that I'm involved in something I love doing like providing opportunities and life lessons to the next generation. I have run my own website dedicated to providing training and coaching information to local/amatuer football players and coaches for over 10 years now and am in a "transition" period of hopefully phasing my regular job as a personal training into something more full time in football. I read coaching and player preparation articles and books from a variety of sports which I modifiy to the AFL landscape.
