21.01.2022 My Sonny was unfortunately with me when I found out our much wanted, little girl’s heartbeat had stopped. She was 4 difficult years in the making. He had seen us through the IVF process, me being violently ill, watched my tummy start to grow and he had one hundred questions about what happened and where she went. Today is Pregnancy and Infant Loss Remembrance Day. I know the pain. I’ve known about it since I was a little girl and had a sister born sleeping. For years I was r...eluctant to share my story or angel portraits. Not wanting to trigger, say the wrong thing... BUT I have learnt how powerful it is when we share our experiences because the only thing worse than the loss of your child, is the silence which surrounds it. Unfortunately there isn't a week that goes by that I am not contacted about angels and statistically it's not going away with 1 in 4 experiencing miscarriages and 2200 babies each year born sleeping in Australia- that's 6 families a day. I know it can be confronting, sometimes uncomfortable BUT... It’s so important to discuss and raise awareness of miscarriages, loss, our angels and our rainbows... because so many of you have experienced it, are in the dark depths of it or have been touched by someone who is. So let's keep sharing. Rest peacefully sweet angels until you meet again. What an absolute honour it is to create portraits for my angel families. 16.01.2022 SILVER LININGS I really love the quote things happen for you, not too you. I’ve had to remind myself of this over the years when things seem . I know One Sonny Day wouldn't exist without this mantra. 8 years ago my husband was made redundant. It was a shock and I was at home with a baby. I just didn’t want to go back to work so I thought it’s now or never! I had been quietly working on my ideas and art for years, but without this gigantic push, I wouldn’t have put myself ...out there. As a right brained, creative and sometimes perfectionist, I would have never thought I was ready. I know COVID might have some of you out of work, or maybe you are on a different path to where you thought you might be headed. You might be feeling defeated - emotionally, mentally, financially . but it might also be a great opportunity to throw yourself into what you’ve been thinking about for a long time. No one can see the silver lining until they’re on the other side but if you’re like me and you look for signs, well I am going to give you a real clear one. This is your F%$#$^ Sign to get started! 11.01.2022 TRIGGER WARNING September is childhood cancer awareness month. This special angel was very difficult for me to complete. Cancer doesn’t discriminate - it could be my children... it could be any of us Her mum Jo has written a few words to share .... I would like to introduce you to Zaeli. At 13 months old, on the 6.06.2017, Zaeli was diagnosed with Very high risk Acute Lymphoblastic Leukaemia MLL rearrangement in Ireland whilst we were on holidays. Over a 15 month period ...Zaeli had many rounds of chemotherapy, many months in hospital, including a number of stays in ICU, a Bone marrow transplant, immunotherapy, trial treatments, many infections and treatments to treat the infections. This September, it has been 2 year since Zaeli lost her battle to Leukaemia, she fought so hard right until the very end. Always Brave, always strong, always fearless and always bold. Forever loved, forever missed and forever remembered. Jo Thinking of you and your family Jo in which I know is a very difficult week. 10.01.2022 TRIGGER WARNING .... ANGEL NUMBERS Who knows what this is? Have you ever seen multiple numbers constantly 11:11, 2:22, 4:44. It happens to me all day and has ever since I was a little girl. I didn't know what it meant until about 5 years ago when I heard of others who also experience this. Basically it is a message from our angels, that they are with you and you're in alignment. So when I recently completed this angel portrait video for my website, I burst into simultaneous tears and goosebumps because it went for 1:11 /1.11 seconds Ahh I think the angels approve I know they are never far away when I am painting. Even last night I saw a pic of my Dad pop up on my phone, who has recently passed and I gave it a kiss, looked up and it was 10:10. Do you know what I'm talking about? Have you experienced this?

09.01.2022 What advice would you give your 21 year old self? Who remembers my beautiful art assistant Lilli who use to work alongside me everyday? Her family commissioned me to paint her portrait for her 21st birthday present I also sent her a pic of me at 21 for something classy to strive towards I was probably channeling some Alanis Morisette ‘jagged little pill’ vibes , pre loading on a cask of goon before hitting the karaoke bar and dancing til 5am. Not a care in the world- no... make up, no heels, $20 in my bra for the night, no social media or phones to record it... it’s like it never happened Who remembers those days? So 20 + years later, this ol’ girl feels like I’m qualified now to give Lilli some pearls of wisdom. 1. Careful with tattoos because that pretty unicorn might just look like a distorted dragonfly in 20 plus years Any words of wisdom to share with Lilli?

05.01.2022 Wow!! My kids were so excited You honestly captured them beautifully and gave my kiddies a gift for life. They held them proudly and were excited to frame them for all to see. I’m not sure what your boys are like but mine are all obsessed with photos and reflecting on their special memories in time. Col, you have just gifted them with another one and for that I am truly thankful and grateful for your brilliance. By far my favourite treasures. 03.01.2022 NEW DESIGN! I am always asked about a daisy crown and when I thought about who I would have as my muse to create it... the answer was easy! This little girl’s name is Daisy Belle and she makes my ovaries ping!! One day those big chubby cheeks and 16 chins will be gone ...but I hope this portrait will be the perfect reminder of how joyful, deliciously chubby and glorious she is Seriously could she be any cuter!!!

02.01.2022 What is today... well IT’S MY BIRTHDAY! It’s been a long time so I thought what better time to introduce myself ... because you know, I’m wearing make up and a bra 1. My name is Colleen (always been Col since birth) and I'm mum to Sonny (8) and Jagger (2) 2. Little people are my jam! Before OSD I was a teacher. I can teach all grades but love special needs and the Preppies. 3. I have also worked as a magician, clown and children’s entertainer. I am in my element with... a 100 kids and my bag of magic tricks 4. I’ve been a portrait artist for more than 7 years now.
