15.01.2022 Onespace Gallery is proud to announce our newest represented artist Nicola Scott. Nicola Scott is an early career artist based in Brisbane, Australia who focuses primarily on the phenomena of visual perception through her painting practice. Scott has completed a Bachelor of Fine Arts with Honours (2012) through the Queensland College of Art, Griffith University. She is currently undertaking a Bachelor of Psychological Science at the University of Queensland. Informed by her ...studies in both Fine Arts and Psychology, Scott questions the embodied and psychological processes through which we see and make sense of our world. Exploiting paint’s unique capacity to blur, blend, and layer, Scott points to the similarly complex nature of our own visual interpretations. She has a particular interest in the neurobiological basis for how we interpret colour, light, movement, and process optical illusions. Photo: Louis Lim. Courtesy of the artist and Onespace Gallery.

03.01.2022 Onespace Gallery is excited to present Ayuva Meenha ('My Mark') a suite of linocut prints by Cairns-based artist, Teho Ropeyarn. Opening Event: https://fb.me/e/1dGQPV2tS Teho’s work is collected by the National Gallery of Australia, he is an alumnus of the Museum of Contemporary Art (Sydney) Primavera exhibition program (in 2012), his work was curated into QAGOMA’s prestigious GOMA Q: Queensland Contemporary Art exhibition in 2015, and he is the recipient of numerous arts gr...ants and awards in Australia. Ayuva Meenha is Teho Ropeyarn’s first solo exhibition in Brisbane. Ayuva Meenha draws upon work previously shown at NorthSite Contemporary Arts (formerly KickArts) in Cairns, which was a major project spanning three years of research and stories recorded on country and stories that have been passed on since primary school. Teho’s idea was to record old stories both traditional and historical so it is there for future generations. Writing for eyeline magazine about this body of work, author George Dann noted, "Ropeyarn illustrates the history and fate of his family and culture through works that display his talent as a carver and printer who takes risks and pushes the medium of printmaking.
