25.01.2022 The Templers fireground has been declared safe, but should serve as a reminder of the very real risk we are facing this summer. The fire moved extremely fast an...d it was only because of the quick response of our volunteers, supported by other agencies and the community, that we were able to get a handle on it as soon as we did. This afternoon's weather has the potential to see more fires like it. If you’re in an area with an Extreme or Severe Fire Danger Rating, please make sure that you have a 5 Minute Bushfire Plan (https://www.cfs.sa.gov.au/prepare-f/5-minute-bushfire-plan/) or make your way to you closest or most convenient Bushfire Safer Place (https://www.cfs.sa.gov.au/prepare-fo/bushfire-safer-places/). If you’re in an area where there aren’t Total Fire Bans, still ensure you’re still taking care to adapt your activities and behaviours to the conditions you're experiencing. Stay safe and know that our volunteers will be here if you need them.
24.01.2022 Bushfires and Covid-19 Quarantine
24.01.2022 Today marks the 5th anniversary of the Pinery bushfire. 2015 Pinery bushfire was a catastrophic bushfire that burned from 25 November to 2 December 2015, and pr...imarily affected the Lower Mid North and west Barossa Valley regions immediately north of Gawler in South Australia. At least 86,000 hectares (210,000 acres) of scrub and farmland in the council areas of Light, Wakefield, Clare and Gilbert Valleys, and Mallala were burned during its duration. On 25 November, during the major run of the Pinery fire, two fatalities occurred; Janet Hughes, 56, perished while fleeing in a vehicle outside Hamley Bridge; Allan Tiller, 69, perished while fighting the fire on a neighbour's property in Pinery itself. A further 90 people were hospitalized as a result of the fire, with five of the victims suffering critical injuries. The Pinery fire destroyed or rendered uninhabitable 91 houses, and completely destroyed 388 non-residential structures, 93 pieces of farm machinery and 98 other vehicles. Today we take the time to remember the 2 lives lost and their families, along with the many others who were greatly effected by the Pinery Fire. #SouthAustraliaBushfires #Pinery #PineryBushfire #CountryFireService #CFS #SACFS #CFSFoundation #CFSVolunteers #Brave #Incredible #Courageous #ThankYou
24.01.2022 TOTAL FIRE BANS - Mount Lofty Ranges - EXTREME Fire Danger - Friday 27th November ... Media and the public are advised that TOTAL FIRE BANS have been declared for 27 November 2020 in the following Fire Ban Districts: West Coast - Severe Eastern Eyre Peninsula - Severe Lower Eyre Peninsula - Severe Mid North - Severe Mount Lofty Ranges - Extreme Yorke Peninsula - Severe Lower South East - Severe Where Total Fire Bans have been declared, very hazardous fire weather conditions are predicted. The Total Fire Ban will apply for 24 hours from midnight tonight to midnight tomorrow. The CFS recommends that you implement your Bushfire Survival Plan. FIRE DANGER RATING Where fire ban districts have a forecast fire danger rating of Extreme, only well prepared, well constructed and actively defended houses are likely to offer safety during a fire. Where fire ban districts have a forecast fire danger rating of Severe, well prepared and actively defended houses can offer safety during a fire. COVID-19 ADVICE If you are quarantining or isolating in an area of fire risk, you can leave that location if you are in an emergency or if your home is unsafe - but try to get back as soon as you safely can. If you need to attend a relief centre or a Bushfire Last Resort Refuge, you need to stay outside, alert emergency services at the location and follow their instructions. Advise emergency services that you have left quarantine or isolation due to COVID-19. Please ensure your emergency kits are updated to include masks, sanitiser, and any other items you may need to keep yourself safe and prevent any potential spread of COVID-19. BUSHFIRE PLAN If you don't have a plan to ensure your survival, leaving early before a fire starts is your safest option. In making your plan, you should be aware that in high fire danger conditions, essential services including mains-fed electricity and water supply may not be available due to the prevailing weather conditions. Landowners are asked to adhere to local harvest codes of practice which are available from your local council. Landowners are also asked to ensure that any burn-off activities conducted today are fully extinguished before midnight tonight. Agencies are advised to activate their Total Fire Ban procedures in preparation for these predicted fire weather conditions. For further information contact the Bushfire Information Hotline on 1800 362 361 or visit https://www.cfs.sa.gov.au

21.01.2022 State-wide Fire Danger Season commences 01/12/2020 The whole of South Australia will officially be in Fire Danger Season today, with the final four districts: Adelaide Metropolitan, Kangaroo Island, Lower South East, and Mount Lofty Ranges, commencing their season from midnight last night.... Residents in these areas need to ensure that any fuel reduction burns are completely extinguished and find alternate options for clearing away excess vegetation, such as council green waste disposal. "As we saw during Sunday's Uleybury Fire, the right conditions on any given day can see a fire easily get out of control." CFS Deputy Chief Officer Andrew Stark explained, "While some parts of the state have seen above average rainfall in the past three months, it won't take long to dry out increasing the fuel loads and the associated fire risk in those areas. "The seasonal outlook for the 2020-21 Fire Danger Season suggests that, while we may not see the same prolonged extreme conditions as last year, the CFS is still in for a busy season and communities need to be prepared." The CFS is urging everyone to check their Bushfire Survival Plan is up-to-date and that they are familiar with their Fire Ban district, and what they can and can't do during Fire Danger Season and on those days of Total Fire Ban.
