08.01.2022 Did you know it’s homelessness week? Normally this week brings together charities across the country to distribute items to those experiencing homelessness. E...ach year Share the Dignity participates by giving period products and toiletries to those in need, but obviously, due to COVID-19 restrictions, the event has had to be cancelled. Without these events, those in need are often left without. We’ve had people personally contact our founder and our charity's Facebook page pleading for support and desperate help. These heartbreaking messages remind us of the realities those living in crisis are experiencing day today. These people in need cannot be forgotten. We’ve heard stories from so many people who’ve experienced extreme hardships that just break our hearts. One story that always sticks out to our founder, is one from a fellow dog lover. A woman experiencing homelessness was going without food to ensure her dog was well fed. She refuses to give up her dog, she told our founder it was the only thing that’s showed her love without abusing her. We’re heartbroken and worried about how these people are coping without the support they usually receive from charities. We know it’s more difficult to donate items, particularly in COVID hotspot areas, and many of our regular donors are experiencing financial hardships they haven’t faced before. We are working hard with charities across the country to distribute period products to those in need as safely as possible. But we need your help. With more people falling into poverty has the economic impact of COVID becomes more and more serious, and more people losing the ability to donate. If you can, we hope you can help us by donating to our COVID fundraiser to raise vital funds for those living in crisis. WE URGENTLY NEED YOUR HELP TO RAISE $350,000 TO PURCHASE PERIOD PRODUCTS. Please help us by donating: https://www.sharethedignity.org.au/get-involved/covid-appeal

07.01.2022 Today is National Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) Awareness Day. In most instances following potentially traumatic events, people are naturally resilient ...and utilise their own adaptive coping strategies such as connecting with people close to them. Sometimes however, something about the event may prevent this natural healing from occurring and what can initially be normal symptoms may become persistent and debilitating. This may be a psychological injury like PTSD. PTSD does not need to be a life sentence and accessing the right treatment early may help prevent you from experiencing PTSD in the first instance or may result in complete recovery in which you may be stronger than before. For more information on PTSD head to https://www.beyondblue.org.au//anxie/types-of-anxiety/ptsd
