05.01.2022 #JDRFOneWalk Day 1. SIGNS Wetting the bed. Most, if not all three-year-olds do it, right?... So, when it happens a little more frequently than usual, you don’t think something’s wrong. Surely it’s just a bit of a phase? But the phase keeps going. The drinking is constant and with it, the trips to the toilet. The bed-wetting is multiple times a night; even through TWO nappies, and the conversations start - you’re both getting worried. Mummy starts writing daily water intake on the calendar and, oh boy - it’s a lot. Mummy has a feeling she knows what this could be, and it’s not a nice feeling. Daddy’s still adjusting to the thought that it’s more than a phase. That night, after the second middle-of-the-night bed change and yet more drinking, everyone’s tired and Daddy’s cranky. He walks back into bed grumbling and Mummy snaps He’s not well, leave him alone. Finally, that breaks through Daddy’s wall of denial. The appointment is made and it begins Via: Matthew J Doyle, One Walk Rockhampton Coordinator. ---------- This month, I am walking 120,000 steps as part of the JDRF Australia #JDRFBlueArmy to raise funds for the fight to find a cure for Type 1 Diabetes. On an average day, 7 Australians will learn that they have Type 1 Diabetes and it will turn their life and the lives of those closest to them upside down. You can help the fight for a cure by donating at: http://walk.matthew.org.au Steps so far: 0 / 120,000 (C’mon, it’s the start of day 1!) Funds raised: $337 / $2,500
