25.01.2022 IVF is physically and emotionally tough. It’s also extremely expensive. This is why the Andrews government committed to establishing public IVF, so that fertili...ty treatment is more accessible. This year’s budget will invest $70 million to deliver on this commitment. The service will help up to 4,000 Victorians every year saving them on average up to $10,000 each. We will also establish Victoria’s first public sperm and egg bank. Services are expected to start in a phased approach from 2022 and not only will this make starting a family easier for Victorians, but also create jobs for more Victorians as fertility specialist doctors, nurses, counsellors, laboratory scientists and support staff.

23.01.2022 It’s #BirthTraumaAwarenessWeek & we are going to focus on prevention of and support for this phenomena. Thank you @naomisawatzkyppdoula for the original post. Let’s be clear. A healthy baby is NOT all that matters. We hear this message regularly, but what does it mean? ... Well, maternity services globally often focus primarily on the safety and well-being of the baby. And they sometimes do this in a patronising way. Let’s keep repeating the message that women matter. Birthing people matter. We all matter, and physical and psychological safety is as important for the mother as well as her infant. As midwives, doulas, maternity support workers and obstetricians - what we do and how we do it, what we say and how we say it - can make a woman’s birth experience either transforming or harrowing. We have that potential impact. The images in this post demonstrate the fact that women are influenced by the words we use. Sometimes we don’t realise what we’re saying - let’s keep being mindful during each interaction. #enough #languagematters #wordsmatter #ahealthybabyisnotallthatmatters #womenmatter #birthingpeoplematter #onglowingplacenta #onglowing

20.01.2022 Does mine look normal? I’m sure this is a question you have heard or thought! . My beautiful friend sent me the link to this last night, probably because she knows how much I loved the cunts and other conversations by Greg Taylor. .... This photography set is a beautiful way to show all vagina-owners that we are truly unique, wonderful bodies. Every body looks different, just like our finger prints and face! We all have the same components but they look unique to us, so we should never feel ashamed of what we received because we are all beautiful. . I’ll put the link in my bio, so go check it out. #flipthroughmyflaps #onglowingplacenta #onglowing See more

15.01.2022 Following the tragic death of his partner, Aaron Harbertson has shared a heartbreaking post on Facebook pleading with all women to take postnatal depression ser...iously. He writes: "To Charlotte, you are the love of my life and gave me the greatest gift possible, a beautiful little boy. It will haunt me for the rest of my life how it went from the pure happiness and love in these photo to this.. "I promise to you that I will raise Hugo into the gentleman you would have wanted him to become, tell him stories every day about how kind, caring and beautiful you are and I will give Hugo your engagement ring when he finds the love of his life." Aaron continues: "To any women having or planning to have a baby, please take postnatal depression seriously, make sure you seek help early on and get out as much as possible to baby groups. Don’t let it ruin your family like it has mine. "To their partners, keep a close eye on them and look out for all of the early symptoms. The earlier it is addressed then less likely it will transform into something fatal. Don’t fail your partner like I did." Aaron's post has been shared far and wide with many commenting that he didn't fail Charlotte. One wrote: "This could have very easily been me had I not had an incredible midwife and a free mental health service for postnatal women in my area. You did not let her down, her brain did. It’s a cruel and pointless illness. I’m so sorry for you loss". While another added: "I am so so sorry this happened to you Charlotte. Only for the fact that my husband at the time realised something was seriously wrong my life may have been over also. It took 3 years for me to come out of postnatal depression and it was a struggle every single day. I am so grateful that I had someone who made me seek help."

15.01.2022 How can we all help? Break the stigma by talking to others about our own mental health "Motherhood is much harder than I thought it'd be - I feel isolated a lo...t of the time" Normalise biologically normal child sleep by sharing and talking about it "Yes my baby sleeps very normally - they wake frequently for reassurance at night" Normalise infant feeding by sharing and talking about it "Yes my baby cluster feeds all evening - it's completely normal" Normalise infant behaviour by sharing and talking about it "No, my baby doesn't really like being put down - this is very normal" Support new families in real and practical ways - meal trains, asking dad how he's really doing, taking toddler to the park so mum can nap with baby, washing up and cooking a meal when you visit. Until society as a whole recognises what normal infant sleep, feeding and behaviour is, educates families antenatally and then supports families to cope with this - we will continue to see perinatal mental health issues rising. What has helped you with your mental health since becoming a parent?

07.01.2022 3 times for the people who need it most . The stigma behind placenta encapsulation still exists! I could go on and on about the benefits and reports from women who have loved it, but there will always be people who think it’s whacky or too hippy. That’s simply because of the influences modern medicine has on us. Huge companies don’t want you to know that they use placenta for their products because if you can use your own...you won’t buy theirs. . If there was a wonde...r drug that these companies produced that helped with PND/A reduction, increased breastmilk, less bleeding, energy, wellbeing, I’m sure everyone would take it! . So why not take yours? Destigmatise placenta encapsulation. Make it commonplace! . #onglowingplacenta #onglowing #placentaencapsulationmelbourne #placentaencapsulation #eatyourplacenta See more

04.01.2022 Posted by @theplacentapro Don’t get me wrong I’m not promoting or approving this in any way shape or form, but do you know that people actually capitalise on selling random human placenta extract to help with menopausal symptoms???? It’s an actual thing. Wouldn’t you prefer a natural version you know as your own in the form of a tincture? Tinctures are liquid versions of your pills and don’t have a shelf life so women use them right up into menopause to help their symptom...s. You can add one on, buy in a package or we can do with remaining pills if you’ve realised you can’t live without them! #justsaying

03.01.2022 Postpartum Anxiety . PPA is the evil cousin to post natal depression, but much less talked about and studied. Seemingly because most don’t recognise when worry becomes excessive worry. If you can’t turn it off then you may be experiencing it. . In this case one of our mummas was able to get herself back to a better state with the power of her placenta! Luckily she had capsules and her tincture to help her through! ... #onglowingplacenta #onglowing #postnataldepression #postnatalanxiety #placentaencapsulation #placentapower #placentaencapsulationmelbourne #placentaencapsulationbenefits

03.01.2022 We understand that not everybody feels comfortable with a standard tincture base, so these can now be made non-alcoholic. . Our standard base is still totally fine for breastfeeding but Onglowing would like to respect and acknowledge that sobriety is a very important factor for some. No matter how small the dose. . This base has a slower absorption rate than the alcohol base, so benefits may take longer to kick in.... . Most components are the same: prep time is still 6-8weeks cost effectiveness shelf life . If you are looking to book a tincture and would like it to be non-alcoholic all you need to do is add a comment on your consent form . #onglowing #onglowingplacenta #placentaencapsulationmelbourne See more

02.01.2022 Imagine, just for a moment, that as a result of the pandemic, women were denied access to epidurals during labour, for reasons regarding COVID infection risk to caregivers. What would happen? OUTRAGE. Thats what would happen. It would be declared inhumane and the removal of rights of women. Yes? Well that hasn’t happened. Of course it fucking hasn’t. But have you heard what has?? ... RANZCOG have issued a statement denying women the use of water during labour as an infection control measure against COVID. Note there is ZERO evidence to back up this move. Of all the births i attend, there are two things that consistently help women through their labours and they are CHOSEN support people, and access to showers and/or deep water immersion for pain relief. Since the beginning of COVID, varying slightly from hospital to hospital, women have been denied any more than one support person. So women have their partner with them, but no doula/sister/friend/mother and in the case of hospital transfer from home birth, often even the private midwife gets shut out on entry. And now, this. The denial of the use of water- one of the major providers of comfort during labour and birth for women who choose against anesthesia. RANZCOG’s answer?? Offer women early epidurals instead. On our backs. On a bed. Anaesthetised. Who has the control then? Fine of that’s what you choose. But if you’re backed into that corner because everything else is taken away? We need to rage because accepting this as ‘the new norm’ is not fucking ok. Reposted by @jerushasutton link to petition in bio #itstime #waterbirth
