21.01.2022 OCCB COVID-19 Update: It pains us to say that we have made the difficult decision to cancel band rehearsals until Easter, after which the Management Committee will reassess the situation based on the latest AHPPC advice available. We will unfortunately also be postponing our Quiz Night (April 4), our Proms in the South (May 23) and our Band Camp (July 4-5). The Band shares your disappointment at the postponing of these events however a prudent approach to community and memb...er safety must prevail at this time. We encourage all members to reach out as much as they need to during this time, and will ensure as a Band we maintain communication and check in on our members who may be vulnerable. The Management Committee will continue to monitor the situation and the latest health advice, and will meet remotely as required to ensure the best continued action for the Band, its members and the community. Thank you for your ongoing support

16.01.2022 Tonight you are going to see the Concert Band perform live - but did you know that we also have a development band under the OCCB brand? The Hopgood Wind Ensemble focuses on development, education and ensemble experience in a fun and supportive environment. Many Concert Band players begin in the Hopgood Wind Ensemble, gain the necessary ensemble skills and experience and then move in to the Concert Band. It is ideal for students of all ages (as well as the young at heart), t...hose taking up a second instrument, or anyone who may have dusted off or taken up an instrument during lockdown this year! We encourage anyone who is looking for a fun, inclusive, educational group to gain ensemble skills and experience in to join the Hopgood Wind Ensemble from 6:30 - 7:30pm Friday nights during school terms. You can message this page or email [email protected] for more information.

12.01.2022 It is Pageant Day!!! We are so thrilled to be able to help bring Christmas to South Australia today. The Adelaide Christmas Pageant has only been cancelled 4 times in 87 years, all due to World War II. This year could have easily been the 5th if not for the passionate team behind the scenes who have worked tirelessly to bring SA the Pageant after a year when we need it more than ever!... Whether you are at the Oval, doing the #pageantathome while watching on Channel 9 or streaming on 9Now, enjoy the Pageant and Merry Christmas! National Pharmacies Christmas Pageant City of Onkaparinga

12.01.2022 Unfortunately in light of the developing COVID-19 situation in Adelaide we have had to make the decision to postpone this Friday's concert. We would love nothing more than to bring you some great music but we need to exercise caution and do the right thing by our members and the community. We will reschedule this concert as soon as we can safely resume rehearsals. Thank you for your understanding and stay safe everyone!

11.01.2022 A huge congratulations to the Granite Community Band for a very successful joint concert on Sunday. With all costs covered by the Granite Band, we were able to raise $3035 for the Kangaroo Island Mayoral Relief & Recovery Bushfire Fund! What a phenomenal effort by an amazing community. Great way to kick off 2020!

11.01.2022 Thanks to Scooter Care in Seaford Meadows for providing us with some wheels for this pageant season to ensure nobody missed out on the fun!

11.01.2022 We are excited to be part of the Southern Community Christmas Carols on Sunday the 15th!

11.01.2022 It is the first ANZAC Day in memory we haven't participated in the Morphett Vale RSL Dawn Service and the Adelaide Commemorative March, however we still managed to pay our respects for this important day. At least 14 of our players sounded the Last Post and Rouse/Reveille from streets around Onkaparinga at dawn. Some on unorthodox instruments, and many for whom this will likely be a once in a lifetime chance to make such a contribution to even the smallest of driveway servic...es. I am moved and proud. Lest we forget. #lightupthedawn #anzacathome #musicformateship #anzacspirit #lestweforget

10.01.2022 The Onkaparinga City Concert Band is remaining alert but not alarmed as we all navigate our way through the COVID-19 pandemic. The health and wellbeing of our members and the community remains our top priority. At this stage, rehearsals and performances with fewer than 500 people will go ahead as planned. We are encouraging members to wash their hands often, especially after handling common property such as music stands, and to stay home if unwell.... See more

10.01.2022 Don't forget to tune in tomorrow night for our last concert for 2020! We have something for everyone, from The Eagles and Queen to Silent Night, so don't miss it!

09.01.2022 Our Hopgood Wind Ensemble was thrilled to be able to resume on Friday - this is our development ensemble for young or young-at-heart players wanting to learn and develop in a supportive and fun environment. They are always keen to welcome new players and would especially love drummers or percussionists at the moment! Message for details :)

09.01.2022 Less than 3 weeks until our next live-streamed concert - coming to you live and free! No need for you to leave the house, no risk, just good old-fashioned music and fun.

09.01.2022 We have some new Facebook page visitors following last night's concert so thought we'd share some information about the band! We are located in the Onkaparinga Council region of South Australia and have been entertaining both the local and wider communities since 1976. We are always welcoming new members to either our Hopgood Wind Ensemble for developing musicians, or our Concert Band. Rehearsals are Friday nights, 6:30-7:30pm during school terms for the Hopgood Wind Ensembl...e, and 7:45-9:30pm for the Concert Band. If you're not instrumentally-inclined, or if you live interstate, you can still help us out by spreading the word to your friends and family - did someone you know take up an instrument during COVID? Do your children or grandchildren learn an instrument at school and want opportunities to learn and perform in a social environment? We would love to welcome players of all ages and abilities. Please also Like our Facebook page (we are tantalisingly close to 500 Likes!), and follow us on Instagram, to stay up to date on what we are up to. Thanks again for all the support from wherever you are - and look forward to "seeing" you again Nov 20!

07.01.2022 Maybe you prefer the slower numbers? We loved playing this classic opera piece last year.

07.01.2022 We should be busy putting the finishing touches on our Proms in the South 2020 performance which was to be May 23rd. Until we can get back to rehearsals and hopefully reschedule the Proms, we thought we'd share some favourite moments from Proms in the South 2019! First up, something to get your toes tapping!... 05.01.2022 One of our favourite marches today as we reminisce on Proms in the South 2019!

05.01.2022 We are proud that at least a quarter of the band are planning to play The Last Post and Reveille from their driveways on a variety of instruments this Saturday to help the community commemorate ANZAC Day while isolating. Please get behind this initiative and ensure we're still remembering and respecting this important day. See https://musicformateship.org/ and http://rslsa.org.au/light-up-the-dawn/ for details
