12.01.2022 Commonwealth Games Northern Ireland signed shirt - Gary Kelly Well here is a once in a lifetime opportunity. Gary Kelly contacted Brad to congratulate him and everyone involved with the upcoming event and has graciously donated his signed Northern Ireland shirt from the 2018 commonwealth games. Gary has recently been seen in the BPL bowling with our very own and beloved Barry Lester. Gary is a tough competitor with a good dose of Irish Larrakin about him. ... Gary had a message for everyone to say that he has been so humbled and so appreciative of how he has been recieved, accepted and supported by Australia and by Australians. He wanted to do something to give back to the country that had welcomed him so openly. It would be hard to think of a person more deserving of our support and our affection as this bloke is just a great guy. Sometimes role models that we admire wear green and gold....sometimes they just wear green! Lets show Gary how much we appreciate his donation and help him to help those that have lost everything. Another legend of the game, another dear friend of Bendigo East Bowling club and indeed of Australian Bowls, Paul Forster https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Paul_Foster_(bowls)... As you do these write ups you start to run out of superlatives and words to describe these giants of the game. Another titan of world bowls with a long long list of achievements and accomplishments. -Multiple commonwealth games medalist -5 times world indoor singles champion -multiple world outdoor bowls medalist -Inducted into the WBT hall of fame -voted player of the year and players's player of the year showing the high regard his fellow competators hold for this man -holder of a record nine major WBT titles. It doesnt get much better and bigger than this. Paul also heard of our event through the social media channels and he immediately contacted Brad to offer what he could to help. A great bowler and a compassionate man who was moved by the plight and peril faced by so many Australians. So here it is. A chance to secure another piece of bowls history. It is hard to think of anyone in the bowling world that is regarded with such respect and awe, indeed with such love, by bowlers and fans alike. He has proven himself to be a proud patriot and an amazing ambassador of both the sport of lawn bowls and his native country of Scotland. Alex contacted Brad when this whole gig was launched and he simply wanted to help out where he could due to his connection to this country in his many, many appearances and competitions. He wanted to help those that have lost so much and that in itself if testament to the quality of the man.
