25.01.2022 Facebook is leaving no stone unturned when it comes to shamelessly ripping off all of Snapchat's features. After losing stories to Instagram, you’d think they'd leave Snapchat to lick their wounds. But no. The Zuck is thirsty for blood, he will stop at nothing in his quest to beat his opponents to a pulp. So get ready for vanish mode. Yep, Facebook has snatched up Snapchat’s last unique and quite frankly useless feature. Now, you can send messages on Facebook Messenger that ...disappear immediately. This latest update is being positioned as, ‘for more casual conversations’, which we think is a more diplomatic way of saying ‘for more dodgy conversations’ - but sure. Who knows what other features are possibly left on earth for Facebook to add next, but we’re sure they’ll surprise us.

25.01.2022 Unless you’ve been living under a rock you’ve probably heard that Sir David Attenborough joined the world of social media this week. His goal of course, to reach a younger audience and talk about all the important stuff regarding our planet, which in his words gives him great hope. Coming in hot is an understatement seeing as he’s already landed himself a Guinness World Record for the fastest time to reach one million followers. In just 4 hours and 44 minutes, he took the title from previous record holder, Jennifer Aniston, by 32 minutes. Bad luck Jen. This is exactly the kind of wholesome news that the world needs right now, and with his documentary being released on Netflix in just two days, we are ready to be inspired by this woke, brilliant, social-media-savvy man.

24.01.2022 Can somebody please tell all the Tik Tok influencers to stop panic downloading second-rate alternatives, because Microsoft have asked the soon-to-be-banned app to step into their Office. Pun intended. That’s right. The ol’ faithful creators of our favourite animated paper clip are in cahoots with Tik Tok’s parent company, ByteDance, to make a deal. So what does this mean for Charli D’Amelio and the rest of us peasants? If this comes to fruition, Microsoft would take over the app’s operations in Australia, New Zealand, the US and Canada. Mind. Blown. P.S. Trump’s continued efforts to control social media this year are honestly cute. Keep trying sweetie.

24.01.2022 PSA: Facebook Watch is now getting a whopping 1.25 billion visitors each month. It’s gonna have to be a whoa from us. While the elusive social network hasn’t given any specific growth numbers, their product lead has said the feature has seen a really big surge since the beginning of lockdown that has not subsided. Could this be the new YouTube? Hell, could this be the new Netflix? All we know for sure is that Facebook continue to spread their tentacles far and wide and we d...on’t doubt for a second that they’re on track to their goal of world domination. 22.01.2022 Harsh but fair.

22.01.2022 SnapChat is seriously bringing it this month. With Instagram stealing the story spotlight and Tik Tok taking over the teen market, it looked like Snapchat may be in dire straits. Let us tell you, they're not going down without a fight.... The platform has brought in so many updates over the last quarter we don’t even know where to begin - a few of their most recent include a snazzy new home page, curated Brand Profiles and FOUR third-party apps including a meditation service created with Headspace. Three more of these ‘Mini-Apps’ are yet to come, edging the platform ever closer to its goal of becoming a ‘Super-App’. If Snapchat keep this up, they’re going to need their own Marvel character. SnapMan? We’ll workshop it. Stay tuned.

20.01.2022 Just flat earth Facebook group tings.

20.01.2022 Golden sunsets, luscious gardens and vines to the horizon. Take us back It seems like a lifetime ago (March) that the On Social team all jumped on an anxiety-inducing turbulent plane ride to Peter Teakle Wines in Port Lincoln. Let us tell you, the white-knuckled, armrest clutching journey was well worth it for the splendour that awaited at our destination. We flew our drone around the winery for a solid 48 hours, capturing bucketloads of aerial content to show all of you ...just how special this hidden gem really is. Check it out. #OnSocialbyKWP #PeterTeakleWines #DronePhotography

17.01.2022 An update on all things social from yours truly.

13.01.2022 We'd like to say a big congratulations to Code REaD Dyslexia Network on their brilliant new ad, produced with our very own KWP! Advertising. It highlights the frustration so many children with dyslexia feel, particularly in the classroom environment. A powerful message and a powerful ad, well done to everyone involved.

10.01.2022 The question is simple, yet the power it holds is profound. If you ask a loved one ‘are you okay?’, have the compassion to truly listen to what they have to say. If someone asks if you’re okay, have the courage to be honest even though it can be difficult to share. We’re all in this together and showing our love and support to one another is the most powerful remedy. #RUOK

08.01.2022 Congratulations to the Commission on Excellence and Innovation in Health on their new snazzy website. Have a squiz.

05.01.2022 Did anyone else go to check their Instagram notifications and got punched in the face with a feed full of shoes they’d been secretly eyeing off? Cool cos same. Instagram’s latest redesign is honestly a lot. Not only has the notification button been replaced with Instagram Shop, but the upload button has also been replaced by the new(ish) short-form video feature, Reels. This shift from feed posts to Tik-Tok-like videos, and from likes to e-commerce is just 2020 in a nutshell. Not sure if we needed any more reason to watch strangely addictive videos of dancing tweens, or to sacrifice our wallets to the online shopping gods, but here we are.

05.01.2022 We love nothing more than a social media coup, and what better way to pull one off than by stealing a hashtag. Hashtags are a tool often misunderstood and misused, but the #ProudBoys hashtag hijack has us foaming at the mouth. To catch you up, during the unnatural disaster that was last week’s presidential debate, President Trump refused to condemn white supremacist group, Proud Boys, following questions about violence toward protestors. In an unexpected, but very welcome pl...ot twist, the LGBTQI community swooped in, stealing the Proud Boys hashtag and diluting the existing hateful content with images of love and pride. The love trumps hate (pun intended) message here is nothing short of inspiring and has reignited our love for the humble hashtag. #SuckedIn

02.01.2022 Why the long neck? Last year, Coopers teamed up with Bottlemart for a one of a kind offer - buy a carton, get a longneck. We worked quickly with our creative team to produce this little gem for Coopers’ social channels. The Facebook post alone gained over 150,000 impressions and almost 40,000 engagements. Apparently Coopers fans love free beer? *gasps* Please note, this offer is long gone.

02.01.2022 Talk with your audience not at them. This might sound obvious, but social media is actually a two-way conversation. There are many different ways for brands to speak to people, but the ability for people to speak with brands is what makes social particularly special. Community management is a service that many brands forego, but one that is so important. Acknowledging and listening to your audience as individuals, not just as a ‘target market’ is the most valuable action you... can take in building customer loyalty. Our team are experts in helping you curate, develop and execute your brand’s tone of voice online to offer customer service, one-on-one conversation and of course, a bitta banter. Send us a a message or head to https://onsocial.com.au/to to find out how we can grow your brand’s voice online.

02.01.2022 Pay to play. While a well-thought out strategy and consistent activity on social media are key drivers of good engagement, social is just like any other channel - you get what you pay for. With organic reach dwindling by the minute, boosting your social activity with cold hard cash can be the most effective way to get your content in front of your audience. Just because someone follows you, doesn’t mean your posts will appear in their feed. Plus, by putting spend behind your ...content you can tap into new pockets of your target audience you’ve never been able to reach before. We could bang on all day about the power of paid social content, but let’s just cap it here - it’s definitely worth your while. To chat further about how paid social can help grow your brand send us a message or email us at [email protected]

01.01.2022 The Messenger app got a sneaky facelift this week, adopting the iconic Instagram gradient effect. Without further ado, Messenger slid straight into Instagram’s DMs as they merged to allow cross-platform messaging. So what does this mean for us mere mortals? Well to start, Instagram-only users can now message Facebook-only users, and vice versa. Instagram DMs will also have a load of new features that we previously only saw in Messenger, like selfie stickers and emoji reacts. There’s about 10 updates in total, but we won’t bore you with them right now. With all this app action, we can’t help but wonder what Mr Zuckerberg is cooking up at Facebook HQ This is the biggest step we’ve seen to date in the shift to having one ‘super-app’ to rule them all. Buckle up.
