24.01.2022 Getting back into the swing of things with a great social media training session with Katharine from @crane_creative

21.01.2022 The Math says it all........."For if we own fewer things, surely there are mathematically fewer ways to arrange them?" (Suzannah Lyons, ABC Science) "The other thing to remember is that there's definitely psychological evidence that too much choice paralyses people," (Jonathan Tuke, University of Adelaide) The article below highlights some interesting facts about owning too much stuff and how too much choice can 'stop us in our tracks'.... It's an interesting read that may help you make the decision to re-evaluate how you currently live. Or is it just 'The Universe' messing with us?????

20.01.2022 Do you remember these rubbish bins? When I left the city back in 1988, this was the go..if you didnt fit your weekly rubbish in this size bin, you had to wait until the next collection. YUK Then when I moved to the farm noooo rubbish collection. I had to take our rubbish to the dump, 15km away!! They say that necessity is the mother of invention!!!! I had to invent really quickly. So I took a good look at what we were bringing into the household, what I could reuse/recycle.../compost and what I had to dump. We eventually worked on dumping our rubbish monthly, and only 1 garbage bag worth. We now have rubbish collection but those habits have stayed with us. Then came the SULO bin.........way too big but many of us manage to fill it up on a weekly basis!!!! Now there's a real trend to reduce the amount of waste we send to landfill (Thanks to the very popular ABC TV programme 'War on Waste' @creucassel bringing this monumental issue to our consciousness). YES it takes effort to #refuseplastic #reducereuserecycle ! But not much effort really. YES sellers need to play their part, especially major supermarkets. YES, WE CAN ALL MAKE A DIFFERENCE Want to know more or have you just moved out of the family home? Check out this website for tips on what you can do to help our planet!!! https://recyclingnearyou.com.au/education/war-on-waste-tips Photo by Pete Willis on Unsplash

20.01.2022 The Long weekend and the start of daylight saving triggers my habit to get my summer clothes out of storage .... this year I could have put it off for a month!!!! It’s 16c, we’re meant to be harvesting our cereal crops and I’m wearing ugg boots and a woolly jumper... where are you warm weather

17.01.2022 Trivia on Tuesday.........My first 'real' job was working in a bank (witch bank??). I was employed at the same institution for over 25 years (on/off) but worked at many sites across the city, metro and country branches. It was a great place to work with lots of different personalities and many fun times and some difficult times, like when our branch was robbed at gun point twice in 3 months......... Anyway, that was a long time ago now and fortunately, I've moved on. What I d...id learn from my time in the banking environment, was the usefulness of processes. Processes or routines can be transferred to many things, including the home environment. All the skills you learn at work about forming processes to help you do your job, can assist you to apply processes or routines at home, making life a whole lot simpler!!!!! Who knew ????????? How has your job helped you in your home environment??? What have you learnt, that can be applied at home?? @wibregionalnetwork @hopscotchbrandingstudio @countrymadeimages @low_tox_traveller @yourplasticfreepantry #havelessbemore #holistichomeorganising #simplifylife #declutteryourlife

14.01.2022 A couple of weeks ago, we lost this incredible woman. She was such a big part of my life, and even though I'm sad that she's gone, I'm also incredibly grateful ...for the life that she got to live, and the love that we were able to share with her. I'm also very grateful to my former self for organising a family shoot in 2018 where I was able to be in the photos with her. It was before Harrison was born, and I know that if I hadn't have organised it then, it probably wouldn't have happened. We were able to capture beautiful moments between our family, moments that we wouldn't have now if I hadn't prioritised it. So this is my little reminder to you. If you want to do something, just do it. Don't wait for the perfect moment, because you just never know when it will be too late. 12.01.2022 INTERNATIONAL NURSES DAY Today we celebrate those beautiful souls who take on the challenge of nursing others back to good health or helping families come to terms with the loss of a loved one. This year we should especially give thanks, as many have literally put their lives on the line! Big shout out to all my nursing family and friends....you all do such an amazing selfless job and I'm proud to call you my friend.... So if you happen to bump into a nurse today....say T H A N K Y O U, we appreciate all that you do for us!!!!!!!

11.01.2022 Just when I thought the fog was lifting..........

11.01.2022 Look familiar??.....it’s been such a busy week and I’ve only had time to wash but not fold and put away. What do I do when faced with this... a little planning, get rid of the bulky stuff first, sort into smalls, Ts, bottoms and any ironing. Then give myself 15 minutes to get as much put away as possible....that gives me some motivation and then I usually ‘just finish the job’!!! Such a thankless task but one to keep on top of as there’s always more on the horizon #simpleliving #holistichomeorganising @crane_creative @countrymadeimages @_jesscrawford_

11.01.2022 What's happening on the weekend?? Chances are, it may be a bit wet (we hope), so that's a good excuse to declutter a kitchen drawer or two. Hand's up if you know what's lurking in your utensil drawer!!!! It used to be the bain of my existence until I had my kitchen renovated and insisted the cabinet maker split my utensil drawer in two (he argued, I won!!). So less stressful and even more so when Howards Storage World started selling draw trays and separators. Now there's no ...argument.....if it doesnt fit, I dont buy it. So......have your brekky and coffee (of course), put aside 30 minutes, empty that drawer, toss out the items you never use (be ruthless), recylce them if possible, then go online or visit your local HSW, Kmart etc with drawer measurements in hand, and purchase some drawer organisers/dividers that suit you. I promise you, you wont look back and you'll wonder why you hadn't done this task earlier. I'd love to know how you get on making this small change, or if you're already reaping the benefits of drawer organisers......have fun!!! 10.01.2022 Only 2 weeks left until the end of the Financial Year!!!!.....are you ready???? The two images (sorry I'm not a professional photographer ) represent our farm's current year financial records...that's it....1 filing cabinet draw, 1 set of plastic shelves. Over the years, I've trialled many systems but this is by far the most simple I've come up with. No nonsense, easily accessible for all, space saving. The processes I've put in place dont require a lot of thought....just si...mple steps to get the job done on a weekly/monthly/quarterly and annual basis. So tell me...are you ready to tackle the ATO reports required - there's just a few!! Or are you a shoe box type of business - letting the accountant sort it all out. Looking forward to the new financial year....perhaps some small changes need to be made to make your accounting system more simplified?? You can always contact me for a chat, it might save a few headaches next time round. @wibregionalnetwork #simplifiedlife #holistichomeorganising #letsgetstarted

10.01.2022 I’m not sure why this took so long? I guess it never really took up that much space in my wardrobe. But after 33 years of marriage, it’s time to pass my wedding dress forward. Happy to donate it to Goods on Gertrude in Port Pirie. Thanks Mum for helping me make it

07.01.2022 It's Yoga morning.....a chance to stop, stretch, breathe.....the rewards I gain from committing to my weekly practice aren't just about the yoga, it's also a chance to catch up with my tribe, my beautiful friends, enjoy conversation, good coffee. It also grounds me and its a re-set for my body, mind and spirit. #havelessbemore #holistichomeorganising #simplepleasures @countrymadewellness @islandyoga_ @lindarayner

06.01.2022 | M I N I M A L I S T S E S S I O N S | Do you know what I wish I had done more of in Harrison's first year? More photos. Not of him on his own, we have plen...ty of those. Of him with me mostly, because I have to take a deep dive into my phone to find one decent looking one, and these ones from Mothers' Day are the last ones we made a point of taking. The concept of Minimalist Sessions came to me after someone enquired about having photos with their child before returning to work. I didn't really have anything in my business structure that fit the whole "quick update", and I realised that as a parent, I wanted to be able to access something like that too, so it made sense to start offering it! The idea of Minimalist Sessions is really about Mumma's existing in photos with their babies, especially in the first couple of years where they change so frequently! But it's great for other special occasions as well - breastfeeding, grandparents, family updates, Christmas presents! My first date is open for bookings now - Saturday 5th December, I have a 10am and 1pm time remaining. These will occur every couple of months in my home studio at Port Germein. I'm so excited at the thought of being able to catch up with families more and document their little ones growing! More info, pricing and bookings here: www.countrymadeimages.com/minimalist

05.01.2022 It's Trivia on Tuesday time...........I admit it....I've always been a 'gadget girl'. I love them!!! I love kitchen shops, storage shops, homeware shops....so many ideas, so many things to buy and use!!! BUT...we can't have it all. Like most things in life, we have to make choices that suit us the best. Purchases that are value for money, space saving, useful, needed. So many items we buy aren't necessarily purchased to help us but may actually be filling a void...we feel hap...py and excited when we purchase but may return to our original state afterwards, with the extra issue of the newly purchased items we now need to store in our houses, somewhere! So my lovelies, ask yourselves the question when tempted...do I really need it, do I really need it, do I really need it??? and what else can I spend that hard-earned dollar on? The feeling may pass or it may not...but definitely food for thought as you continue on your decluttering journey towards a simplified life. #havelessbemore #simplifiedlife #holistichomeorganising @yourplasticfreepantry @countrymadewellness @wibregionalnetwork

05.01.2022 What a fabulous idea so innovative Claire

03.01.2022 Just a tad excited......first harvest of spinach and lettuce leaves. Looking forward to eating these tonight along with our home-made pizza. 02.01.2022 Over the weekend I finally got my washing and folding under control and this actually gave me some more brain space to tackle another job I’ve been putting off!! My office desk ... it didn’t take long to find out what was in those piles and sort and toss what was irrelevant. I’m now back on track with more motivation to get some outstanding tasks completed #holistichomeorganising #havelessbemore #simplifylife
