25.01.2022 My boy Quiz got his first set of shoes today at the age of 10. Took it all in his stride like the cool dude he is. Now ready for the trainer to start putting some miles on him before he comes home

22.01.2022 This young man is about to start the next chapter of his life. Getting used to having a bit in his mouth before Sunday’s dentist appointment. Today he is getting a Masterson Method session to help with any tension he may be holding.

20.01.2022 Does your horse choose to stand square in the paddock? Or do they stand with one leg forward or back, or constantly resting a particular leg or changing weight... from side to side? If a horse is doing any of these things, they are trying to get comfortable meaning something is making them uncomfortable. There are many reasons for horses choosing not to stand square including body issues, imbalances and soreness or problems from an injury ( old or new) I know when my horses choose not to stand square, there is an issue I need to find and pay attention to. Regular body work can help with soreness and imbalances to help your horse feel relaxed, balanced & overall feeling good with in themselves- Relieving their body of aches & pains & stiffness and general discomfort all round, helping to be balanced which in turn allow them to be more relaxed throughout the body & mind. So if your horse is consistently not standing square or resting a particular leg, why not book them in for a good body work sesh. They will really thank you for it! *** I took these images this afternoon when checking on my horses up in the paddock. It’s something I always keep an eye on, as the sooner you see a possible issue, the easier it is usually to fix & the less the horse needs to be uncomfortable or in pain.

17.01.2022 It’s raining and I want to play but the old man doesn’t

14.01.2022 Love this. If only more riders would take the time and responsibility to listen and adjust where needed even if this means having to change their way and up skill their ways.

14.01.2022 This lovely boy went home today after a couple of weeks here for body work to help with old injuries and tight muscles.

10.01.2022 "The top line muscles develop only when the following three conditions are met: 1. The horse is in front of the legs, i.e. the hind legs push enough for the imp...ulse to travel along the spine to the bit. The rider is able to feel each hind leg touching down as an impulse in the rein of the same side. Any muscle blockages or false bends (energy leaks) that would interfere with the energy transmission have to be removed. 2. The hind legs engage enough so that they touch down underneath the rider’s heels. This engagement can be produced by riding curved lines and sidestepping with the bend against the direction of travel. 3. The hind legs allow the half halts to go through, i.e. the rider is able to create a connection from the body mass and the reins, through the horse’s legs, to the ground. When these three conditions are met, the horse will also be relatively well balanced and straight. If the horse is behind the aids, he will not engage his hind legs enough. If the hind legs lag behind instead of engaging, they can’t support the back and they are out of reach of the weight and rein aids. If the hind legs are out of reach of the weight and rein aids, half halts can’t go through." (Thomas Ritter) Painting: Laura Hughes, www.laurahughespaintings.com

06.01.2022 His first time with Equissage and loving it

05.01.2022 Meet Ariat, turns 4 early November. Introduce to the saddle first time today. No big asks, just letting him walk around and get used to the feel. Also second day with bridle. That one is a little tricky to put on but becoming more relaxed with it.

01.01.2022 When you are by yourself and you do something you know better but don’t. Good old duct tape to the rescue
