21.01.2022 August was a productive month for our diverse creatives at Onwards during August. . @melisahmay83 has been painting a stunning new series for her upcoming exhibition at Onwards this October. @millieshorter exhibited at @darwincommunityarts_untitled for her textile show 'Ode To Cracker Night'. @theyard_creative gave us all mask envy with thier incredibly stylish Daschund masks.... @tiffanyjane_barber shared so many Mullet appreciation posts. @conceptavision went next level filming a full series of informative presentation videos in the gallery. @tmhndrsn @melodell and @brettpiva all produced works for @thelockupartspace COLLECT exhibition. And our newest member @patmavetyart had a cracking solo exhibition to reopen our gallery to the public. . . NO SHOW is an Open Studio invitation to Newcastle artist Brett Piva’s studio that will share experiments and processes using various mediums on base materials such as Glass, Paper and Canvas. A response to a NO SHOW circumstance due to a large projects 11th hour cancellation over the October long weekend in Newcastle. Various works of all sizes, both accomplished and incomplete will be shared. Framed, unframed or unfinished. An insight into studio practices rather than a showcase of completed works. Hand made brushes, tools and implements used to create works will be on display and discussed during each session. New abstract and contemporary pieces will be available for sale. The Book of Newcastle showcases a collection of over 350 of Trevor Dickinson's drawings of the city, starting January 2009 with the last made during the 2020 COVID-19 lockdown. The drawings record the small ignored details, from signposts and bins, to the beautiful beaches and everything in between, making a very personal visual portrait of Newcastle NSW in a period of great... change. Kimberly has been exhibiting with the Artisan Collective Port Stephens in Nelson Bay NSW for the past 3 years as one of 20 resident artists, exhibited throughout a number of group-shows across the hunter including the inaugural all female group show MISTRESS held at Blackstone Gallery Newcastle, NSW. Kimberly was... one of the first artists to participate in the Hunter Valley Art Fair last year and will again be showcasing her works there during the October long weekend 2021. Her first solo show was with The Levee Art Gallery & Studios in 2019, a kick-starting award received after taking second place at the Port Stephens Art Prize earlier that year. Don’t miss this show! This was created to support all artists, makers and designers working at Onwards Studio during COVID-19. . We’ve been able to share all proceeds from sales with our members in this current time when changes in COVID assistance is upon us. .
