23.01.2022 Hi all, Yesterday I was out on the road for the first time with Sharon. She amazed me how quickly she adapted to the Learner bike. She kept her cool when she stalled, and when she settled into her road time, I could see her body posture relax and I could tell she was enjoying herself. Might have even heard a little YeeeeHaaaa from under the helmet at one stage.... (Yes, it IS possible to clock up 65kms around Gordonvale. Keeping it local. If you see us out and about; give us a wave.) In general, OTHER MOTORISTS are pretty tolerant of a Learner, giving them the personal space they need. Later in the afternoon whilst riding with Delena, I had the need to brake-check a Taxi driver who I considered was following way too close. This started me thinking: HOW CAN I MAKE MY LEARNER MORE VISIBLE. Some drivers, for whatever reason, just DON’T SEE the little faded yellow L plate attached to the lower part of the rear of the the bike. My motto has ALWAYS been: Be safe; Be seen. Blind Freddie could see my driving lights on the front of my bike. I will be supplying Hi Vis vests for my Learner riders from today. I would encourage you to take advantage of this as it is for YOUR safety. Just as drivers respond better to EYE LEVEL BRAKE LIGHTS, I feel that this will provide enhanced safety for you all as you will be seen much easier, especially when riding late afternoon or early evening. 08.01.2022 Somewhere amongst the craziNESS of yesterday's Cairns Ironman, I was able to stop and "smell the roses" on what turned out to be a gorgeous, albeit tropically hot and balmy day. Our Coastline has some of the absolute BEST roads for riding. My photos do not do this area justice but hey; sharing is caring.
