23.01.2022 Another Onyx Park young one showing his potential. Blue Eyed Dare has a story, he was bought totally wild, couldn’t be caught in a paddock. The talented Tereza Husakova worked so very hard with him, getting his ground work up to scratch and taming the beast. From here, he worked along, but it was Jess who has been working tirelessly with him to get him rideable. This horse has literally had so much blood, sweat and tears put into him. On Sunday, he went for his second ever o...uting to Denman and had a look at some jumps. Jess set out to do some logs, and after the ditches and water jumps were a breeze, finished on the 95cm coal train. This boy is the real deal, keep an eye out for him out and about this eventing season. Jess has truly proven that she is one of the best trainers around, and those who know Dare understand that he is one special boy. Can’t wait to see him at his first comp! See more

22.01.2022 For his first look at ditches, a mound and water, this guy is worth a look. He is super quiet and young.

21.01.2022 Our young fella Dare did it, his second event, placing 2nd to a flashy competitor, only 2 and a bit off its dressage score, which is impressive enough jumped clear SJ and double clear XC. Jess has done an amazing job with him, he is getting better and better and we can’t wait to see what the future holds

17.01.2022 We planned on doing a ‘meet the onyx team’ series, so it only seems fit to start with the biggest of the crew. Nelly is 17++hh TBxWB. She has an amazing story. Nelly was bought as a 4 year old, purpose bred jumper, she succeeded huge heights by the age of 6, then had a little tendon strain that put her out for a rest. Her owner tried may times to bring her back into work, but she still had very unknown issues, and as a result, she never got back into any form of work. She... was put out to be a brood mare, however, for outside reasons, ended up on a truck to the doggers. Her old owner was notified, and quickly insisted that she was dropped off to his property. Talk about being in the right place at the right time... Nelly came to Onyx Park almost straight away after getting off the truck for the doggers. She was unridden for 7 years. She was a little hot, a little impatient, wouldn’t tie up, wouldn’t have her feet picked up. At this point Barb can be quoted in saying ‘I am never getting on her... ever!’ After a very short time, Nelly turned into the machine that she is today. Just willing to go, to jump everything in her path, the do whatever you ask. She is a gem, she has taught her riders so much, she is a pleasure to be around. She ties up, she lets her feet get picked up, she has even been a great auntie to our foal. Nelly is huge and is literally like driving a bus, but has a heart of gold and makes you smile everytime you get on her. She is a forever horse here at Onyx. The best part of the story is that Barb ended up riding her until she was 30+ weeks pregnant with our son Oliver, the only reason she stopped was that her belly was in the way and launching off such a huge horse was becoming a problem. I’m sure our son will be riding this huge machine down the track. One of the family to stay forever See more

13.01.2022 Great to have Barney back for a visit. Barney gave his lovely owner Katrina Parbery a huge scare with a recent colic episode that required surgery. Like the champion we all knew Barns was, he pulled through, now he is with us at Onyx Park Stables for his recovery. We are so glad he is here, and his mini mate Turbo is a pint sized bonus

07.01.2022 Onyx Parks ‘special’ baby horse, Dare, finished his first event at Tamworth on the weekend in some of the most challenging conditions any eventer has experienced. He was a horse that we thought would possibly never make it to an event, Tereza Husakova was the first person to do an amazing job with this horse, she can be quoted in saying ‘this is the hardest horse I have ever dealt with’. She was so good and made him at least able to be handled From here, Jonathan Angeli did... a lot of work establishing his confidence and worked to make sure he was safe enough to sit on his back. After having Dare back at Onyx for a few months, we thought long and hard about who to trust to finish him and take him out. After seeing what Jess Somerfield has done with a few other horses, she was given the task, and look at the result! The breaking in process has taken 2.5 years for this horse, every horse is different, and some horses just need the right people and time. We couldn’t be happier! Watch out, here comes Dare! See more

05.01.2022 Meet the team Sunday- Gilly (Gealtsje) our stunning friesian mare, who has been with us for over 2 years now and has already given us one beautiful and super well tempered warlander foal (Cassiopeia). Gilly has recently travelled to Victoria to be served by the AMAZING Lucio Do Rei, an imported Lusitano cremello stallion owned by Lisa & Phil from Noble Shadow Baroque Horse Stud. This match made in heaven has given us a positive pregnancy and we cannot wait to welcome the guaranteed buckskin foal into the world in September 2021! Thank you Lisa and Phil for the great care you took of our girl and also the whole process, being such smooth sailing thanks to you. Watch this space for what will be a great pedigree warlander foal with the looks to die for!
