22.01.2022 HUNTER PUBLIC HEALTH ALERT A COVID-19 case has been confirmed in Port Stephens, with the source of infection identified as a visitor from Sydney. Anyone who v...isited the Salamander Bay Shopping Centre on Wednesday July 15 should be on alert for symptoms and seek testing immediately if any develop. This case has visited stores including Woolworths, Aldi and NewsXpress. Additionally, the Sydney case visited the Windsor Castle Hotel in East Maitland between 6pm and 8pm on Monday July 13. Anyone who visited the hotel during this timeframe, and is experiencing COVID-19 symptoms, should seek testing immediately. Anyone with cold or flu-like symptoms such as fever, sore throat, cough or shortness of breath, is urged to get tested., regardless of where they have been. It is essential people follow the directions they receive about home isolation and quarantine, and maintain COVID-safe practices of physical distancing of 1.5 metres, cough or sneeze into their elbow, and regularly wash their hands. 10.01.2022 Love our finished art table! It was a challenge because I wanted the kids to be able to draw and create here without worrying about protecting the table so I had to think of something that would camouflage some texter and paint and hide the mess underneath. I really think this table will work!

09.01.2022 Really enjoying my first day of online learning from the Play First Summit. Thinking through so many ideas that I can incorporate back into our oosh environment. Reminded of the philosophy of the importance of the environment as the third teacher. Towards the end of last term I was feeling a bit frazzled and as I looked around my oosh I could see clutter creeping in everywhere and I really think it was negatively affecting my mood and no doubt the mood of the children at oosh.... In the holidays I had a major declutter and reorganisation and this term I’m going to try and dedicate time to keeping things in order and see if it makes a difference. Here’s our afternoon tea today- lemon poppy seed cake to use up some of the lemons from our tree with a variety of fruit. 04.01.2022 Concrete is drying nicely. Now just waiting for some fresh mulch and it will be ready for playing! We have a flying fox, a cargo net, a rope ladder, two swings and a monkey bar swing plus some exercise bars! Wish me luck telling the kids this afternoon that they can only look but not play on it yet!

04.01.2022 Found this raised garden bed at Bunnings, added a tray on the top and now we have an awesome sensory play trough. Less than $50 all up. Added some coloured rice and garbage bins and ready for play!

02.01.2022 Some eucalyptus playdough for our start to Term 3. It smells amazing and it’s anti bacterial. I’m going to talk to the kids about washing hands before using play dough to keep it germ free and probably replacing the dough every day just to be extra safe. I’m excited to see if they use the leaves and scissors I’ve provided. Wish I had some tiny koalas to add, I do have some regular tiny bears so they may be added later in the week!
