24.01.2022 Looking for something to do on Sunday...

23.01.2022 A great way to #cyclethesuburbs is along the Linear Trail. If you dont own a bike, book-a-bike from Lochiel Park Golf Course. Its free and there are kids and adult bikes. A great ride to start is the Active Family Loop from the Golf Course. Follow the pink signs and enjoy the pleasant surrounds!

23.01.2022 Here's a piccie of my first go at a veggie patch, under the careful watch of ossie scare ostrich. I was inspired by the great work of Campbelltown Local Food Projects By just by having a go I'm learning heaps about edible gardening and getting a lot of satisfaction from simply seeing the garden change each day. Anyone other edible garden beginners having a go this year?

23.01.2022 We love the Campbelltown Community Orchard! #campbelltownPlacesandFaces

22.01.2022 We asked a select group of Campbelltown residents why they cycle the suburbs for a short film we'll launch this afternoon. No expense was spared to recruit local talent :P.

22.01.2022 Vlad loves to cycle the suburbs to see friends and go to the local shops on his 3 wheel bike. Here he is at the recent Campbelltown City Council (SA) Aysgarth Ave Park BBQ. Check out his bike carrier - what a great way to transport your groceries on shopping day.

22.01.2022 Turn the sound up then press play and youll hear to the joyful screams of Ivy learning to ride with her brother Joey. The quiet road they are practising on is near Lochiel Park Golf Course, on the other side of the footbridge. Youll just notice she is learning to glide on her bike without training wheels. With practise and encouragement, kids become great at using their legs to glide (we like to say WOOSH) to get enough speed that helps with balance. Thanks Keith Lai for the great footage.

22.01.2022 What are you owl doing tonight? Why not make the most of the beautiful weather and head outdoors to the Moonlight Markets @ Thorndon Park? If were lucky we might even get another blazing red Adelaide sky. Itll be a hoot!

22.01.2022 Life is about to look even brighter outside at Morialta Conservation Park - can't wait!

21.01.2022 A Giant OPAL THANK YOU to all everyone who attended our final neighbourhood bbq for the season which was also the celebration of 5 years of OPAL in Campbelltown! It was a fantastic night of celebrations, games, tree climbing, getting to know the neighbours and chowing down on some delicious healthy burgers cooked by the fantastic Lions clubs of Athelstone and Rostrevor! We could not achieve anything without the support of our amazing community. To ALL of the community mem...bers we have worked with over the course of the last 5 years, our gratitude goes out to you all for helping children and families in Campbelltown to eat well and be active! #CampbelltownPlacesandFaces #CampbelltownHistory #CampbelltownSA

19.01.2022 Throwback Thursday showcasing another great Campbelltown Community leader Jasmine Milbanks!! Jasmine is the director of Campbelltown Preschool and (along with her dedicated staff) is always willing to go beyond the call of duty in her mission to support Campbelltown children's wellbeing and learning! If its true that it takes a village to raise a child and a key to success is working together; OPAL thanks and acknowledges Jasmine for leading the way with compassion, positive energy, commitment and good humour, and being the poster girl for the front cover of our OPAL achievements booklet : ) #CampbelltownPlacesandFaces #CampbelltownHistory #CampbelltownSA

19.01.2022 There are many reasons children like to ride their bike. Take a look at this video to hear why some children ride their bike and to hear what prevents others from riding more.

17.01.2022 Wow, its been a gr8 5 years but it's time for Shaun & me to pull up stumps. It's been a tough job leading by example; mucking around in creeks with kids, testing local cycling routes and assessing drinking fountains in Campbelltown's magnificent parks and public places. Do you believe me? TX 4 great support from kids, families, sporting clubs, local businesses and schools and more!. Special thanks to Tracy Johnstone and her team, Shaun Li, Jessica Grove, Campbelltown C...ity Council (SA) staff and elected members and OPAL head office for all your support. 17.01.2022 Yesterday at lunch I parked @Third Creek Trail and walked to the shops at K-Mart. Avoiding the hectic Shopping Centre car park and enjoying a 5 minute walk instead was a great break to my work day. Remember when you Think Feet First - part-way is ok and is a great way to avoid traffic at shopping centres and schools. How do you #thinkfeetfirst in Campbelltown City Council (SA)?

16.01.2022 Come and experience the newly developed Nature Play Trail along Fourth Creek at Campbelltown City Council (SA)'s community launch event. 11.01.2022 Thanks to Charles Campbell College for sharing this pic! Fruit Crew had another bountiful harvest the other week with around 60kg of Pears picked that was utilised in Charles Campbell's Stephanie Alexander Kitchen Garden program. It's great to see how our harvested pears are helping us 'pear' up with other programs, howzat for collaboration!

11.01.2022 My favourite learn to ride spots in Campbelltown are Magill Uni Car Park on a Sunday, where I taught my own kids to ride, and the quiet road next to the footbridge@ Lochiel Park Golf Course. Tell us your favourite Learn to ride spot in Campbelltown? Even better, send a photo to #cyclingthesuburbs Press play to see Keith Lai son at Lochiel Park . The Lai family originally borrowed bikes from the Golf Course to help get started then purchased their own. Recent holiday event was a playground tour along the Linear Park trail. Life certainly looks brighter outside for the Lai family.

09.01.2022 Just saw this nifty little invention on fellow Campbelltown staff member, Sarah's desk! For those who want to add a little flavour to Water. The Original Cool drink, a few strawberries and a bit of a mint will give it a deeelicious kick. Other combinations you can try include apple and cinnamon, or a even a small wedge of lime and mint. Just make sure your combinations aren't sugary or highly acidic!

07.01.2022 OPAL Campbelltown would like to introduce a third addition to the team; Gretel the Pug! Like all OPAL staff, Gretel is committed to helping our community to eat well and be active. Gretel's strengths lie in building sustainable partnerships with non-government sectors and brings a wealth of experience in integrating strength based approaches in preventative health to influence council policy and procedures #pugalaide #phodography #pugpolicy

06.01.2022 Did you say or think 'schools must be back today' because of the increased car traffic on the road and around school sites? 20 years ago you would have noticed more children and young people cycling or walking to their first day back at school. One great way for families to return 'part way' to the good 'ol days is to park 5 minutes away from school sites then #thinkfeetfirst and step, cycle or scoot to school. Its a great way to connect with your children outdoors ... before the busy work and school day begins. Campbelltown has an ideal network of local roads, parks and trails near schools. Campbelltown City Council (SA) families, if you need help on where and how to get started in your #thinkfeetfirst routine call or email me (8366 9272 or [email protected]) and I'll also send you one of our #partwayisok stickers to put on your car bumper bar.
