19.01.2022 Another entry for you Pandemic Garden Project Competition: "I started my new front garden in August this year during our second lockdown in Eltham, Victoria. I am a novice gardener with an interest usually in just Natives. I started with a drawing I made to scale to develop my formal Veggie/Flower garden idea, and it took off from there. It's still very much a work in progress." Enter our competition by Monday the 30th of November for your chance to win a $100 gift voucher from Van Loon's Nursery. 07.01.2022 I always think there's something incredibly special when a kookaburra visits your garden. Our subcommittee member has a frequent kookaburra visiting her garden! Even perching itself ready for a spin on the motorbike!

05.01.2022 Hosta is our plant of the week, and there are so many varieties there's a plant for everyone! Whether it's an adorable miniature hosta for a pot in your garden or a mammoth monster of a plant to fill up a big space under a shade tree. It's a genus of plant that is also commonly known as plantain lilies and occasionally by the Japanese name gibshi. Hostas are widely cultivated as shade-tolerant foliage plants and are very long lived under the right conditions. Visit our website for more info on this perennial plant that really is a favourite among many gardeners. https://opengardensvictoria.org.au/Plant-of-the-week-2-3-4-5

04.01.2022 This entrant to our November "Pandemic Garden Project" competition is testament to a total garden transformation! The entrant writes: "Finally during Covid, we found the time to get all this concrete removed (it was a huge task!), and create a living, green and productive yet nourishing space filled with a variety of edibles and flowers. It is our happy place! We come out and pick fruit & veg daily and rarely need to buy anything from the greengrocers. We also enjoy the bir...ds, bees and all the insects that share this part of our garden with us." This competition is now closed as we eagerly await a winner! Judge: Heidi Martin Van Loon's Nursery Prize: $100 gift voucher Van Loon's Nursery

02.01.2022 King parrots seem to be frequent visitors to your gardens. They are so strikingly vibrant in colour! Here's a few snaps from three different gardens.
