24.01.2022 Today is International Overdose Awareness Day. Did you know that over 2000 people die of overdoses in Australia each year? And that most overdoses are preventable? 20.01.2022 The Wear it purple virtual concert is about to begin

20.01.2022 There are 4,454 of young people (12-24 years) who are currently experiencing homelessness in Queensland. LGBTIQAP+ SisterGirl and BrotherBoy young people are twice as likely to experience homelessness and have less access to services that meet their needs. Open Doors believes that every person needs and deserves secure housing that meets their needs. We advocate for and work with Young People in our community to support housing security. #HW2020 #endhomelessness

17.01.2022 It is Wear It Purple Month and we have an amazing and busy schedule of events planned in partnership with lots of other wonderful services. Its not too late to submit a piece of visual art or performance for the virtual exhibitions and concert!! Weve also created a frame that you can put on your profile picture to show your Wear it Purple Pride this month- search wear it purple in the frames section and look for the open doors logo.

12.01.2022 This year Open Doors Youth Services Pride Art Therapy Program has teamed up with Childrens Health Queensland to showcase a virtual Art Exhibition for this years Wear it Purple Day! Here is one of the beautiful submissions from one of our budding artists that encapsulates what the importance of Wear It Purple Days theme Be The Change means to them. ARTIST: Leon Neal, 10 years old.

12.01.2022 To celebrate Wear It purple day and our communities amazing creative talents we are running a small competition for young people aged under 25 and under. Take a photo, paint a picture, doodle on a selfie, decoupage something, whatever takes you fancy!! Submit a photo of your creation below or to [email protected] We will select a winner next Friday the 4th of September. The prize is a $50 voucher to a store of your choosing.

09.01.2022 To celebrate Trans Awareness Week 2020, we are showcasing some of the wonderful Trans and gender diverse people that work at Open Doors Youth Service. Teddy McDiarmid is our intake officer and online engagement facilitator. He is trans masc, non-binary and queer. Teddy is passionate about equity, access and inclusion. He, also, loves fashion, animals and community. "I think that my experience joining the open doors team is that of healing, being in an environment where my ...gender and sexuality are seen as assets is incredibly rewarding for me. I see the benefit of young people being able to connect with people that have shared experiences that reflect theirs." We are looking for young people to create a small artwork within the dimensions of 20cm x 20cm using any materials you wish, encapsulating what this years Wear It Purple theme "be the change" means/ looks like to YOU!
