23.01.2022 Don’t forget this Monday 10 Feb, 10am: Suicide Safe Talk at the Scott River Fire Shed. We could do with a couple extra people.
23.01.2022 Laurissa Knowles and myself (Miriam Avery) will be holding a Think Mental Health & Open the Gate stand at the Nillup Landmark Field Day and & Trade Show this Friday from 1.30pm. We will be available to talk more about the Open the Gate program, take registrations for the upcoming Suicide safeTALK's and would love any feedback on what mental health assistance is required in the area. So come and say hello and have a chat with us. Nillup Rural Store were generous sponsors of the recent Scott River Charity Ball which raised the funds to implement the Open the Gate program. See you Friday!
22.01.2022 We really encourage you to take the next step in the Open the Gate program by doing the SafeTALK. Here Shelley talks about the workshop and what you will learn.

18.01.2022 Stay mentally healthy during this uncertain time. See the link for various support groups available if you need to reach out.
17.01.2022 Some really great tips here by Garry Mills on mental fitness. I totally agree with him about building a routine or a timetable into your day.
15.01.2022 I know that many people in the rural and remote areas are used to a certain amount of isolation and in some ways it's "business as usual" for farmers but I still think it's important to keep mentally healthy and be aware of the signs of depression. Its also important to check in on your friends and family who are NOT accustomed to isolation. Maybe you can pass on a few tips on how to live healthily and happily in isolation. Spread the love people; this is going to be a tough time and we all need to look out for each other.
13.01.2022 LINK IS NOW WORKING FOR THE SAFE TALK NEXT TUESDAY.
12.01.2022 I found this on the Mindful Margaret River page. What a great calendar. Great to print and stick on the fridge for everyone to see every day. Mindful Margaret River seeks to build resilience and improve well-being within the community by actively supporting partnerships between community and service providers to identify and address local issues.
10.01.2022 Here is another great online resource for seeking assistance should you require it.
10.01.2022 What a fantastic turn out for the Suicide Prevention SafeTALK yesterday in Nannup. We now have 15 more people in our community who are safe talkers. Thanks to Nannup Community Resource Centre for partnering with Open the Gate to host this and to Steve our facilitator for being so engaging. And thanks to St John of God South West Community Alcohol and Drug Service for providing this service. Next SafeTALK is in Karridale on Tuesday 24 Sept. We will post a registration link in the next few days.
09.01.2022 Don't forget to sign up for the Karridale Suicide Prevention Training for next Tuesday 24th Sept. This is normally a paid workshop but Open the Gate is providing this training FREE of charge. Registration is required so click the link below to sign up.
08.01.2022 Here is another fun way to connect with your friends and family while in isolation or just on the farm! Don't stop talking to everyone! Now, more than ever, is the time to reach out to people and talk or just listen.
05.01.2022 We also had Emma from GROW come and speak to us about a mental health support group which could be started in Augusta or any other communities if people wanted it.
